The Choir at The Bridge

The Choir at The Bridge Thursdays from 16th April to 30th July 2026 | 2pm to 4pm The Bridge At Waterloo Room, St John’s Waterloo The Bridge at Waterloo and Age Exchange warmly invite you to join our new choir! Come along, make new friends and find joy through learning to sing together as a choir, led by Age Exchange’s professional choir leader and singer, Catarina Carvalho. This choir group is aimed at people living with dementia and their carer/s. Getting to St John’s Waterloo: St John’s Waterloo is accessible by bus, tube or train; the nearest stations are Waterloo Station (Jubilee, Northern, Bakeloo, Waterloo & City) and Waterloo Station East. Parking is available in Exton Street on pay bays, Monday to Friday from 8.30am till 6.30pm and Saturday 8.30am till 1.30pm. Payment must be made by phone or app, details can be found on signs along Exton Street. After 6.30pm (1pm on Saturday) parking is free within the bays and on single yellow lines. There are no disabled bays along Exton Street.

Body & Soul - Thursdays - 6pm (45 min class) Cross Training�� Join us for a combination of cardio and strength training. This will be a moderate to high intensity workout for the whole body. Classes are at Christ Church Surbiton Hill (8 Christ Church Road, Surbiton, KT5 8JJ) and you can enter through the main entrance. Come and train with a qualified Body & Soul Coach, reach your fitness goals, build community with others, and strengthen your body and soul. Our classes run on a PAY WHAT YOU CAN basis - with no joining fees or contacts. We suggest £10 per class, but you can pay what you can between £1-£10 per class, whatever suits your budget. Sound Wave: Electronic Music Workshop & Jam

About the Event Want to explore electronic music making and collaborative jamming aboard a canal barge? Surrounded by the rhythms of the canal, the barge becomes a floating studio where sound, technology, and creativity come together. Whether you have never touched a synthesiser before or already make electronic music, this welcoming workshop offers an opportunity to explore sound synthesis, beats, textures, and electronic soundscapes in an open and supportive environment. Through a collective jam session, participants will experiment with synthesizers and electronic instruments, discovering how individual sounds can come together to create something larger as a group. All synthesisers and electronic instruments will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own over-ear headphones with a 3.5mm jack (please avoid Bluetooth headphones or earbuds). If you have a small synthesiser or electronic instrument of your own, feel free to bring it along. No prior experience is required. The workshop is open to beginners and experienced musicians alike. Tom Sochas Trio

Fresh from a run of European dates, Tom Sochas Trio returns to PizzaExpress Live for an evening of evocative, contemporary jazz. The setlist travels from the Arctic Circle—featuring music from their mountain-inspired album Facing North—to an exciting preview of brand-new material from a soon to be announced release. Expect a blend of original contemporary jazz and selected standards. Not to be missed! Tom Sochas is a Franco-American pianist born and raised in Paris, France and Nairobi, Kenya. Tom moved to London in 2011 to study and pursue his artistic career. Tom’s love of lyrical and melodic music, hard hitting post-bop and his passion for western classical music has led him to developing a unique sound, itself materialising into his first solo EP, You could hear the bird sing. Following its success Tom Sochas released his debut trio album The Sorcerer on Khumbu Records in April 2022. Tom was awarded the Do It Differently grant from Help Musicians UK to support the release of this record. Tom and the trio have had the pleasure of touring this record and performing to sold-out audiences in some of Europe’s greatest jazz clubs including Ronnie Scott’s in London, Birdland in Hamburg, Sunset Sunside in Paris, Philly Joe’s in Tallinn, Sala Clamores in Madrid, The Jazz Bar in Edinburgh and Milano Jazz Club in Barcelona amongst others. Tom was recently awarded another grant by Help Musicians UK and has just released his sophomore album Facing North, out on Khumbu Records.

Sarah King

Sarah King is a trained actor, chanteuse, street performer and dancer. She has appeared at speakeasies dubious and prestigious in New York and other cities. Her quartet held a weekly residency at the Top of the Standard Hotel for ten years. She was cast as a singer in Sleep No More, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the film, A Complete Unknown. Usually she’s singing jazz around New York City at an array of hotels and clubs with crews of swinging musicians. Sarah recorded two studio albums with her band, Tulip or Turnip ( Birdwatcher, 2021) andThe Masquerade is Over (Birdwatcher, 2023). She was also featured on Stephane Wrembel’s albums, Django New Orleans, and Django New Orleans II: Hors Série. For over fifteen years, Sarah King has been a familiar voice on the New York City jazz scene, including a decade-long residency at the Top of the Standard’s Boom Boom Room. In a city known for constant turnover, her longevity reflects a rare blend of artistry, versatility, and deep connection with audiences. After earning a degree in Theater from Marymount Manhattan College, her path into music was anything but traditional. She began busking in the subway with ukulele and guitar, honing her voice before unpredictable crowds. She later joined a funky, circus-style marching band— performing as a dancing majorette in parades across New York City and at festivals throughout Europe and South America, including the Ibero Americano Theater Festival in Colombia.

Celebrate 100 years of Miles Davis with Grammy Nominated Trumpet player, vocalist and composer. From his bebop work with Charlie Parker to his hit funk album "We Want Miles", come hear a little bit of Miles' greatest work from all eras. WAYNE TUCKER is a trumpeter, composer, arranger, college professor, violinist, vocalist, author, actor and model based in New York City. He has released 5 albums under his name and performs regularly with his band, The Bad Mothas in New York City. Wayne has toured and recorded with a diverse array of notables such as jazz musicians Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Cyrille Aimée; pop acts Taylor Swift, David Crosby, Elvis Costello; r&b singers Ne-Yo and Gabriel Garzon-Montano; hip hop artists Jidenna and Ryan Leslie; and with the rock band Brass Against, and house music stars; Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston. This diversity is represented in The Bad Mothas energetic sound where the American Songbook gets a welcome update, including selections by Michael Jackson or Earth Wind & Fire. Tenor saxophonist Miles Tucker (Wayne's brother) holds a lean mean counterpoint to Wayne's gentle affability on trumpet. Drummer Diego Joaquin Ramirez and bassist Tamir Shmerling provide solid underpinning which accommodates a varied cast of pianists, most notably the gospel-influenced Willerm Delisfort.

Arts Music Lounge: Jimmy Lindsay

An Evening with British Reggae legend Jimmy Lindsay & His Band Jimmy was born in Kingston, Jamaica and is a genuine reggae/soul artist with a cultured musical history. At the age of nine he and his family relocated to the UK where his musical career began as a soul singer in the sixties. Jimmy came to fame as the front man of Cymande in the 70’s. His undisputed excellence when commanding vocal authority and technique is delivered with a remarkable confidence and passion. Jimmy then went on to a solo career and found himself at the forefront of British reggae aligning himself with reggae greats as Joe Gibbs, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Andy and Bob Marley . Further, Jimmy’s song writing delves deeper into the roots of reggae and communicates a powerful message through his Jamaican roots touching your soul and dancing feet. The strength of song writing is documented on three solo albums ‘Where Is Your Love’, ‘Children Of Rastafari’, and Jimmy Lindsay and Rasuji Live at The Venue 1980. His chart success includes his superlative re-working of the 1977 British Reggae award winning single Commodores’ ‘Easy’ and ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’.
