Based on a true story, Ahmed Masoud’s, The Shroud Maker, follows Hajja Souad, an 84 year old Palestinian woman navigating decades of conflict with sharp wit and a sewing machine. Rush Hour Jazz - Toby Greenwood

The son of a multi-instrumentalist, Toby has been a professional saxophonist since the age of 16 and although reared on jazz, he has made his living principally within the funk, R’n’B and session scene. Having worked in brass sections of just about every size and permutation you can think of, he makes particular use of this invaluable experience when arranging the brass in his various bands, exploiting the different blends and tonal possibilities available. Stylistically he’s been influenced by major American jazz composers such as Wayne Shorter and Charles Mingus and there are also tangible influences from Latin American and particularly South African jazz. ‘abso-blooming-lutely marvellous’ – John Brown Chill out with a drink or coffee after work for an hour’s jazz in Seven Bar Seven Bar 6-7/15pm Pay What You Feel donations. The duo consists of Pat and Nuala, who originally hail from Wigan and Stockport, respectively. They follow threads through the tales of lives and ancestry, singing about people, places, events, and experiences that have shaped them. Their music encompasses a wide variety of styles, including ballad, country, folk, rock, soul, and a capella. The Lottie Hood Nonet is a new jazz group comprising of young, upcoming jazz musicians from the Leeds jazz scene. A 6 piece horn section along with a tight knit rhythm section offers a powerful accompaniment to Amelie Payne- Heneghan’s stirring vocals. Paying homage to classic albums such as ‘Ella Swings Gently with Nelson’ , and Sarah’s Vaughan’s ‘The Land of Hi- Fi’ as well as new offerings from contemporary musicians such as ‘Portrait’ by Samara Joy, this Nonet reimagines well-loved standards of the American Songbook and Bossa Nova compositions. Rush Hour Jazz - Alex Fisher

Alex Fisher is a saxophonist, clarinettist and composer based in Leeds. Having begun performing on tenor sax at age 13, with a foundation in jazz and the music of the Great American Songbook, Alex now enjoys regularly performing and recording on saxes from soprano to bass – as well as clarinet, and bass and contrabass clarinets – in a multitude of musical styles in his home city and around the UK. Since graduating from Leeds Conservatoire in 2018, tenor sax player Alex has also dedicated much of his time to composition. His first album, You Heard It Here First, was released in November 2021 and features a host of Leeds & London-based musicians performing some of Alex’s original material. The second of the album’s two singles, As We Find It, was featured on Jazz FM’s Weekly Playlist, Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Basement UK Jazz Special, and Bandcamp’s Bandcamp Weekly radio show. “I really like it. The cast take your suggestions and weave a sordid tale for you that is pacy and packed with belly laughs (Cup of Beans Comedy). In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. That evidence is now on the public record. This 50-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces – designed to help audiences process the information on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats, but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency action. Many of those attending the event commented that although the facts are alarming, they felt a sense of optimism about confronting the challenge together and seeing a pathway to a better future. Post-film Conversation There will be a post film conversation to enable audience members to process what they have heard and find ways to engage positively around solutions in their local community.
