About this event

Alex Fisher is a saxophonist, clarinettist and composer based in Leeds. Having begun performing on tenor sax at age 13, with a foundation in jazz and the music of the Great American Songbook, Alex now enjoys regularly performing and recording on saxes from soprano to bass – as well as clarinet, and bass and contrabass clarinets – in a multitude of musical styles in his home city and around the UK. Since graduating from Leeds Conservatoire in 2018, tenor sax player Alex has also dedicated much of his time to composition. His first album, You Heard It Here First, was released in November 2021 and features a host of Leeds & London-based musicians performing some of Alex’s original material. The second of the album’s two singles, As We Find It, was featured on Jazz FM’s Weekly Playlist, Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Basement UK Jazz Special, and Bandcamp’s Bandcamp Weekly radio show. “I really like it. It’s steady, it’s absorbing. Kinda takes you on a journey.” – Deb Grant, Jazz FM Music https://www.alexfishersax.com/original-music Chill out with a drink or coffee after work for an hour’s jazz in Seven Bar Seven Bar 6-7/15pm Pay What You Feel donations.
