Join your guide local historian Oona Kelly as she leads you along the towpath and environs of the River Lea in Tottenham. The walk will take you from Tottenham Hale down towards Springfield Park (Hackney). Along the way you will discover the remarkable history of the River Lea and the vital role it played in the development of Tottenham, its industries, transport and the people who lived there. Book your free ticket for this walking tour via Eventbrite. Please meet Oona at 10.45am for 11am start outside Tottenham Hale Station, N17 9LR. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes for walking. This is a free walk, however if you would like to give a donation on the day to Oona then it will be gratefully received. Reminiscence Café: Memorable Events Image Annabel Thu, 05/07/2026 - 12:24 Tuesday 16 June 2026, 2.00pm to 4.00pm Free, all welcome. Refreshments included. There are national events and local events, and of course those more personal events that are particularly significant to us. This month celebrates Windrush Day, a national event important to many in our local community, and throughout the year there are more occasions, anniversaries and celebrations. Sometimes, though, it may be just a one-off local event that you remember in particular. Maybe a royal visit, or a visit of a national celebrity, Spurs winning the double (or anything really!), the Olympics, a street party. But there are also those individual events that we never forget: weddings, births, first day at school, first day at work, first wage packet, favourite book, perhaps even something that changed the direction of our life. Dig into your photo albums and bring along pictures of your memorable events and tell us why they were so important to you. Come to the museum and share your memories over a cup of tea. Meet: 10.45am for an 11am start outside Costa Coffee, 261 High Rd, South Tottenham, London N15 4RR, UK. A walk down memory lane for some and a chance to discover something new for others, this guided tour explores the rich Black history of one of Tottenham’s most famous roads. Many people do not realise that West Green Road was once described as the “blackest road in Europe” because of the remarkable number of Black-owned businesses located there. Join this walk to discover some of those businesses and hear the stories behind them. Beginning at Seven Sisters station, the tour follows West Green Road through Haringey, bringing to life stories of Black hair innovation, food, books, fashion, music, and much more. Your tour guide, Avril Nanton, will meet you at 10.45am inside Costa Coffee. Please allow enough time for your journey, as the walk will begin promptly at 11.00am. There are no toilet stops during the walk, so please use the facilities in Costa Coffee before the tour begins.

Join guide and Curator at Bruce Castle Deborah Hedgecock on this special free historical walking tour in and around the Bruce Castle Heritage Quarter. She will be looking back at over 400 years of Tottenham’s Black history with stories of local heroes, changemakers and activists. Meet: 1.45pm for a 2pm start outside All Hallows Church, Church Lane, Tottenham N17 7AA. Start: Meet from 1.45pm (tour starts 2pm) at Bruce Castle Museum and Archive (under the clocktower/main entrance), Lordship Lane, Tottenham N17 8NU Starting off at All Hallows Church, this tour will lead you around Tottenham Cemetery, All Hallows' Church & Graveyard, Bruce Castle Park and the nearby Lancasterian Primary School, before finishing in the newly curated Windrush Gallery at Bruce Castle Museum.
