Join local historian Oona Kelly as she takes you along the historic coaching inn route along Tottenham High Road. You will hear about pubs and inns and the families that ran them and the social and governmental role that they played in the local area. Public houses provided refreshment, lodging, and fresh horses for weary travellers and Tottenham breweries supplied the alcohol. The walk will start at the junction with Broad Lane and end at the High Road junction with Bruce Grove, staying on the eastern side of the road, as that is where most of the pubs were sited! Please meet Oona at 10.45am for 11am start outside Tesco Superstore, 230 High Road, Tottenham High Road, N15 4AJ Please book your free ticket for this walking tour via Eventbrite. If you are late arriving and miss the start, Oona will be leading the walk from Tesco, along the eastern side of the High Road towards Bruce Grove Station. The walk will take 2 hours. Please dress for the weather, bring a bottle of water and wear suitable shoes for walking. Oona Kelly is kindly leading her historical walks for us at Bruce Castle Museum & Archive as part of our programme to promote and engage with the heritage and community stories of our area in Haringey. They are free to attend.
