Adult beginners crochet coffee morning

Adult beginners crochet coffee morning Host: Shirley Mawhinney & Val Riddiough Time: 10- 12.30pm This is for adults (16+) who have never crocheted before or who are at the beginning of their crochet journey. It's a relaxed and very informal session. Shirley and Val, right-handed instructors, will be there to get you started and help you create a basic shape e.g. square, circle, love heart. You are also encouraged to bring along any crochet projects that you are currently working on that you'd like help with. This session is an opportunity to bring together beginners, and blether over a cuppa and biscuits. Yarn, hooks and materials will be available for you to use and we will offer advice and guidance on how to get your crochet projects started. This is not a structured lesson, so it's perfect for anyone who wants to just give it a go or even just get to know a bit more about crochet. Children's crochet: make a basket Hosts: Val Riddiough and Shirley Mawhinney Time: 2pm - 4pm Price: £15 This workshop is for children who are aged 8+. Crochet requires a level of dexterity in their fingers that usually hasn't formed before age 8. We want children to have the best experience and not be put off learning this skill. This class is for children who are beginners to crochet and for those who can already crochet. They will be taught how to make a basket. We will adapt the style to suit their ability so everyone will go home with something that they can use. They will learn skills which will help them to never be bored in their summer holiday. Examples of baskets will be displayed for inspiration. All materials will be provided at the class. If your child already has crochet hooks and yarn please feel free to bring them along. Children's beginners crochet (right-handed) Hosts: Shirley Mawhinney & Val Riddiough Time: 6pm - 8pm Price: £8 This workshop is for right- handed children who are aged 8+.  Crochet requires a level of dexterity in their fingers that usually hasn't formed before age 8. We want children to have the best experience and not be put off learning this skill. In this workshop children will learn basic crochet stitches including chain stitch, slip stitch, double crochet, half treble and treble crochet.  They will be encouraged to combine these stitches to make a basic shapes such as squares, circles, flowers, love hearts. Children will be guided on choosing yarns and colours and shown some examples of things that they can go on to make using their shapes e.g. flowers, hanging decorations, blankets, toys. All materials are provided, however if your child already has crochet hooks and yarn please feel free to bring them along. Children's pottery class Hosts: Adrienne McKenzie Time: 1pm - 3pm Price: £20 per child Come and have fun while you make your own ceramic creation.  Children will learn how to make pinch pots, add features and textures and score and slip. After making your animal, you can glaze it with underglaze.  We will dry and fire your animal in the kiln and then clear glaze it and refire.  Your animal will be ready to collect in approximately three weeks from date of class.  We will notify you when it's ready for collection.
