Frida Kahlo is a phenomenon. She is arguably the world’s favourite female artist – beloved by young and old. Exhibition on Screen’s award-winning film – first released during covid to a restricted audience - is back by popular demand with an exciting new addition from the blockbuster transatlantic exhibition from Tate Britain and MFA Houston 'Frida Kahlo: the Making of an Icon'. Back in the cinemas in May 2026, one month before the Tate exhibition opens, allowing audiences to watch both the film and see the show. Who was Frida Kahlo? Everyone knows her face but who was the woman behind the bright colours, the big brows and the floral crowns? Take a journey through the life of a true icon, discover her art, and uncover the true story of her rebellious, passionate and turbulent life. Making use of the latest technology to deliver previously unimaginable quality, we take an in-depth look at key works throughout her career. Using letters Kahlo wrote to guide us, this definitive film reveals her deepest emotions and unlocks the secrets and symbolism contained within her art. Carlton Kirby: True Tales of the Tour de France

On the eve of the 2026 Tour de France, Carlton Kirby, the Voice of Cycling, shares inside stories and frank opinions from his 25 years’ covering the sport. In a funny and revealing evening for all cycling fans, Carlton will reflect on his front-row experiences from the Tour and other big races – plus the lessons he’s learned from life on the road, as a bon viveur in budget hotels across Europe. Carlton is maybe the last in the line of the great character commentators – cycling’s answer to cricket’s Henry Blofeld, F1’s Murray Walker or darts' Sid Waddell. He has been in the commentary box for a golden age of British cycling and the evening will also include stories of his not-always-happy dealings with stars including Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and his own gantry partner-in-crime Sean Kelly. This is a chance to see one of TV’s most entertaining commentators and raconteurs in an intimate local venue. Carlton will be in conversation with former Procycling magazine writer Duncan Steer.

Join Confidance for an open dance workshop, as part of Radical Motion – a new disability dance festival for Folkestone. This workshop is for people with learning disabilities andor neurodivergence. It is an opportunity to move your body, get creative and make something fabulous with people who love to dance. No prior experience necessary – we welcome all bodies and abilities. Confidance workshops are welcoming and supportive spaces that celebrate individual creativity and foster community connection. You can expect great, feel-good music and a session led by warm, highly-trained facilitators. Carers and those in supporting roles are welcome to join. Mind the Gap will open with ‘The Shopping Basket Theory’, a brand-new dance-theatre duet in collaboration with John-William Watson. ConfiCo will follow, premiering ‘Give Me Space’ - a striking new work inspired by their lived experiences of disability. Mind the Gap: The Shopping Basket Theory (15 minutes) What happens when doom and gloom meets cheer, when hopelessness meets hopefulness? In this brand-new dance-theatre duet, a collaboration between Mind the Gap and John-William Watson; two opposing characters search for connection and community whilst trying to embrace each other's differences. If they share the load, will they find empathy and common ground? Mind the Gap collaborates with learning disabled andor autistic artists to create bold, inclusive and original theatre. John-William Watson is a Yorkshire based choreographer, director and dancer from Beeston, Leeds. Learn more about learning disabled leadership in dance in this workshop, delivered by Hannah Sampson and Stopgap as part of Radical Motion – a new disability-dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. Stopgap's Senior Dance Artist, Hannah Sampson, will share a day in the life of a senior dance will also give insights into why she felt it was important to join a board of trustees and how she balances her advocacy work with her career as a dance artist. The event will begin with a 10-15 minute speech from Hannah and be followed by a workshop, where Hannah will lead some creative tasks and explorations. Radical Motion: “I’m Me” Accessible Research Workshop

Discover how inclusive, collaborative research can transform creative practice in this interactive workshop inspired by the I’m Me project. This event is part of Radical Motion – a new disability dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. Co-led by Professor Matthew Reason (York St. John University), researcher Daniel Foulds, and ConfiCo (Confidance’s professional company), this session offers a unique insight into a groundbreaking two-year research journey. I’m Me brought together over 100 learning disabled and autistic artists from across the UK (2023–2025), exploring themes of identity, representation, and voice. Through a series of hands-on creative activities and open discussions, you will be guided through the project’s process - experiencing first-hand how the research was shaped, and its impact for artists and audiences. The workshop will also reveal how this research directly inspired ConfiCo’s latest production, Give Me Space, offering a behind-the-scenes look at research-driven performance-making. Join us to experience a dynamic, accessible approach to research that puts artists’ voices at its heart.
