Join Confidance for an open dance workshop, as part of Radical Motion – a new disability dance festival for Folkestone. This workshop is for people with learning disabilities andor neurodivergence. It is an opportunity to move your body, get creative and make something fabulous with people who love to dance. No prior experience necessary – we welcome all bodies and abilities. Confidance workshops are welcoming and supportive spaces that celebrate individual creativity and foster community connection. You can expect great, feel-good music and a session led by warm, highly-trained facilitators. Carers and those in supporting roles are welcome to join. Access Information This event welcomes people with learning disabilities and neurodivergence. What to expect: • You can stim, move or make noise during the workshop; you can take breaks when you need. • The workshop will include music and movement; feel free to bring ear defenders if helpful. • There will be no strobe lighting or full blackouts. • The venue is wheelchair accessible. Since they formed in 2019, ConfiCo have created and performed bold new dance performances across Kent. Join ConfiCo for an inclusive dance workshop, as part of Radical Motion – a new disability dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. In this workshop, ConfiCo will share creative tasks and exercises that were part of the devising process for their new show – Give Me Space. Give Me Space is a bold new dance piece, inspired by ConfiCo’s lived experience of learning disability. This workshop is designed for people with and without learning disabilities. No prior experience is required – just a curiosity to learn more and move together! During the workshop, you will learn more about the themes and ideas in the show. This is an opportunity to understand more about how ConfiCo’s contemporary dance performances are made. Confidance workshops are a welcoming and supportive space, celebrating individual creativity and fostering community connection. Radical Motion Matinee – ConfiCo and Mind the Gap

Join our matinee double bill performance from ConfiCo and Mind the Gap, as part of Radical Motion - a new disability-dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. This matinee event is designed for people with and without learning disabilities, and includes performances from ConfiCo (Confidance’s professional company) and Mind the Gap. Mind the Gap will open with ‘The Shopping Basket Theory’, a brand-new dance-theatre duet in collaboration with John-William Watson. ConfiCo will follow, premiering ‘Give Me Space’ - a striking new work inspired by their lived experiences of disability. Mind the Gap: The Shopping Basket Theory (15 minutes) What happens when doom and gloom meets cheer, when hopelessness meets hopefulness? In this brand-new dance-theatre duet, a collaboration between Mind the Gap and John-William Watson; two opposing characters search for connection and community whilst trying to embrace each other's differences. If they share the load, will they find empathy and common ground? Mind the Gap collaborates with learning disabled andor autistic artists to create bold, inclusive and original theatre. John-William Watson is a Yorkshire based choreographer, director and dancer from Beeston, Leeds. They create critically acclaimed, darkly-comedic dance plays - often exploring the interplay between silliness, surrealism and existentialism.

It is perfect for the whole family – mums, dads, grandparents, siblings, friends and carers. No experience is necessary – come as you are, and we will explore ways to move and groove together. Join Mind the Gap for an inclusive dance workshop, as part of Radical Motion – a new disability-dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. Based on their collaboration with John-William Watson; Mind the Gap’s workshop explores the creative process of ‘The Shopping Basket Theory.’ It will introduce dancers to Mind the Gap’s movement style and creativity with a focus on individual expression, and storytelling through dance. This event is suitable for everyone aged 16+ with an interest in dance and movement theatre. No prior experience is necessary for the workshop. Please wear comfortable clothing to move in. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about ‘The Shopping Basket Theory’, which will be performed as part of our dance double bill, alongside ConfiCo. Radical Motion: Learning disabled leadership in dance

Learn more about learning disabled leadership in dance in this workshop, delivered by Hannah Sampson and Stopgap as part of Radical Motion – a new disability-dance festival for Folkestone, hosted by Confidance. Stopgap's Senior Dance Artist, Hannah Sampson, will share a day in the life of a senior dance will also give insights into why she felt it was important to join a board of trustees and how she balances her advocacy work with her career as a dance artist. The event will begin with a 10-15 minute speech from Hannah and be followed by a workshop, where Hannah will lead some creative tasks and explorations. This event is suitable for everyone with an interest in learning disabled leadership, dance and advocacy. No prior experience is necessary for the workshop.
