There’s a Monster in Your Show

Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventures for big imaginations are leaping from page to stage, as the beloved ‘Who’s in Your Book?' series tours the UK in a brand-new musical show. A group of performers are preparing to start their show, but quickly discover they are not alone on stage. Little Monster wants to be part of the fun too! With an invitation to his friends, Dragon, Alien and Unicorn to join him, you can expect comedy and chaos as they help to create a magical show, learning about the joy of books and friendship along the way. A high-energy 50-minute adventure featuring lively original music, this show is the perfect introduction to live theatre. Expect plenty of playful fun for your littlest ones as their favourite characters come to life in a show that is packed with interactive moments to enjoy together. New music composed by Tom Fletcher, Barry Bignold and Miranda Larson. Tom Fletcher says, "Being part of the creative team has been a real joy and I’ve loved blending my passion for storytelling with live theatre. Back when we kicked things off in 2023, I never imagined we’d be heading out on a fourth national tour in 2026! It’s all thanks to the brilliant puppeteers, the magical puppets and the amazing families who keep coming back. I know taking kids to the theatre can be a bit daunting – but this show is made with young families in mind.

Folkestone is a Library – Spotlight Event ‘The power of being heard’

Join us for an evening of ideas, stories and good conversation as we take a closer look at Folkestone is a Library and the people bringing it to life. Doors open from 6pm. Our quarterly Spotlight Events shine a light on local and national voices working across storytelling in all its forms, alongside projects and moments tied to key dates in the literary calendar. Guest speakers: Tanzidah Islam, Richard Martin, James Collie and Lydia Hibbert Tanzidah Islam, Cultural Programmes & Events Lead at SD Projects, working at the intersection of art, technology and architecture, hosting events to enrich minds and widen accessibility to subaltern knowledge. The Reading Room, situated at the Old Post Office, Tontine St, is slowly growing with books from guest speakers and local people, ranging from art and poetry to history and children's books. Richard Martin is Chief Executive Officer at the charity Touchbase Care, a welcoming community space where disabled adults come to learn, create, socialise and build independence, based in the Creative Quarter. Cloud Chamber: Gavin Greenaway and Caroline Dale

Cloud Chamber is the newly formed duo of Gavin Greenaway (piano) and Caroline Dale (cello), internationally renowned performers whose careers span more than 30 years at the forefront of film and concert music. Inhabiting a space between traditional ‘classical’ music and the neo-classical music of today, Cloud Chamber make music which is melodic and lyrical – ‘stories without words’ full of emotion and colour. Emmy award winning composer, Gavin Greenaway has conducted over 200 film scores (Gladiator, How to Train Your Dragon, Wicked, Interstellar) and orchestral recordings for Sir George Martin and Sir Paul McCartney. He has composed music for the theatre, TV and film, as well as the Vancouver Winter Olympics, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, songs with Bryan Adams and two solo albums of his own piano music. From 2018 to 2024 he was conductor of “The World of Hans Zimmer” arena show, leading the orchestra, choir and soloists in over 100 performances throughout Europe. Caroline Dale has a wide-ranging career both in the studio and on the live stage, performing with: the Nigel Kennedy and Balanescu Quartets, the English Chamber Orchestra, David Gilmour, David Gray, U2, and Sinead O’Connor; as concerto soloist with the LPO, RPO and RLPO; featuring on film scores, such as Atonement, Hilary and Jackie (about the life of Jacqueline du Pre) and Truly Madly Deeply. Her solo album Such Sweet Thunder combines classical repertoire with her own compositions.

Folkestone Live ‘26 - Festival of Theatre and Comedy

Folkestone Live returns for its third year, with a weekend packed full of live performances at the Quarterhouse. From nationally acclaimed children’s shows, to five-star Edinburgh Festival productions, you can see comedy, improv, musical theatre and brand-new drama, as well as a smattering of Shakespeare; something for all ages and in the family. Many of local talented professional performers and playwrights will be showcasing their new writing, whilst keeping ticket prices to the cost of a couple of pints. Kiiōtō feat. Lou Rhodes of Lamb

Kiiōtō’s second album, Black Salt, casts the net wide and deep in the stories it tells. Debut single Butterfly is a dark and brooding critique of a narcissist, its prowling bass, angular chords and bell motif creating a claustrophobic chill. In contrast, Zero Gravity – inspired by Samantha Harvey’s Booker Prize winning novel “Orbital”- zooms out into space, reflecting upon the transformational experience of orbiting Earth, its heartbeat intro giving way to brush drums and stacked vocal refrain. Little Axe tells of the challenges of raising young men amidst the threat of violence in urban life, set to soulful guitar and congas, while White Noise highlights the hold of social media on the modern mind, in staccato rhythm and abtsract piano. Lost Map reflects on the results of DNA tests the duo took in search of a deeper understanding of their disparate heritages, against a backdrop of spacious piano and muted trumpet. Closing track Five Eight, conveys the aching loss of Heath’s mother, Rhodes’ vocal stripped bare over shimmering Wurlitzer. Throughout, the arrangements remain spare and bold, leaning into jazz, broken beat and soul textures, with references as diverse as Carole King, Khruangbin and Alice Coltrane. The resulting album is impossible to define by genre, but is fused by the unique interplay of Heath’s melodic sensibilities and Rhodes inimitable voice.
