South East Essex Schools’ Music Association (SEESMA) returns in 2026 with Lights, Camera, Animate! —a spectacular celebration of the magic of animation. Step into the world of cartoons and cinema as we journey through the history of animation, bringing to life some of your all-time favourite animated characters and soundtracks. Join choirs and orchestras from over 60 schools across South East Essex as they sing and play their way through iconic themes and unforgettable moments from the animated world. Expect colour, creativity, and plenty of nostalgia—this is a show the whole family will love. SEESMA was formed in 1980, continuing a proud tradition of music festivals in Southend that spans almost ninety years across a variety of venues. Each year, SEESMA organises and hosts both the Junior Music Festival—held over five nights at the Cliffs Pavilion—and the Infant Music Festival at Kings Road Church. Each performance will support one of five chosen charities. Tickets are always in high demand and shows are likely to sell out—so be sure to book early and secure your seat for this unforgettable animated adventure. Schools Performing: Monday – St Marys, Earls Hall, Sacred Heart, Porters Grange, Barons Court, St Helens, Saint Pierre, Thundersley, Our Lady of Ransom, Richmond, Rochford, Milton. The evening honors one of the most influential songwriters of the past century and features performances by beloved UK artist RUMER who has worked directly with BURT BACHARACH - plus additional guests to be announced. The show will be brought to life with the WTWNN Band accompanied by the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC CONCERT ORCHESTRA under the musical direction of Rob Shirakbari - Bacharach’s long time arranger and music director. The show features Bacharach’s classics including ‘The Look of Love’, ‘Walk on By’, ‘Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head’, ‘Anyone Who Had a Heart’, ‘Make It Easy On Yourself’ and the timeless anthem ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love’ plus lots more. Bacharach remains one of the most decorated songwriters in modern music with a catalogue that includes 73 US Top 40 and 52 UK Top 40 hits as well as three Academy Awards, six Grammy Awards and an Emmy. Following on from the hugely successful The Best of Tubular Bells I, II and III tour earlier this year as well as the extended 50th anniversary celebrations, which toured throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand in 2023, 2024 and 2025, The Best of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells I, II & III is coming to Southend this Autumn. The 2026 tour is to feature an expansive live group led and arranged by Oldfield’s long-term collaborator Robin Smith. Performances are to include the whole of Tubular Bells I in full, along with extended sections of Tubular Bells II and III, as well as the worldwide hit single Moonlight Shadow. ‘Mesmerising, spellbinding, breathtaking, enthralling and electric.’ Bournemouth Echo ‘Hearing the timeless music performed with such passion and love brought tears to the eye as the audience rode on waves of Oldfield’s magic.
