The National Garden Scheme Hosts a Special Event at Lanjeth Nursery and Water Gardens, St Austell PL26 7TL Wednesday 22 July 2-5pm Private Guided Talk and Tour, welcome drink and cream tea £18 A limited number of tickets are available for an exclusive talk and guided tour by one of the owners. Designated as a County Wildlife Site stretching to 13.5 acres, the Nursery and Water Gardens include 130 ponds and lakes set within heathland full of significant wildlife. Following purchase in 2022, restoration has uncovered water plants and marginals which thrive in the boggy site. The stars of the show are undoubtedly the water lilies in the main lake, the size of diner plates! The nursery’s core values of Community, Accessibility, Sustainability and Tranquility will be fully explored as the tour progresses and wanders round ponds and through ancient woodland. Coastal Foraging at The Cove

Head on down to the beach to the Cove Cafe, Hayle, the perfect location to forage for edible coastal plants and wild food. The course is fun and informative and run by the hugely knowledgeable Emma, Creator and owner of “Never mind the Burdocks”. (we love the name!!) After the foraging session, you will be welcomed back to the Cove Cafe for a delicious lunch and refreshments. What Emma doesn’t know about foraging isn’t worth knowing, this unique, highly informative and great day out is sure to kick start any budding wild food lover. Course Overview Duration: 10:00-14:30 Max student to tutor ratio: 12/1 Tutor: Emma Gunn – Never mind the burdocks Welcome talk, orientation and safety briefing During this session we will cover the aim of the course, toilet facilities, course area and safety briefing. Don’t forget to wear suitable clothing and footwear and always bring a waterproof ready for the changeable Cornish weather!! Foraging around The Beach Located in an ideal environment for a coastal foraging course in Cornwall, your group will be taken on a foraging excursion around the sand dunes and beach where you will explore many different environments – including hedgerow, beach, sand dunes and coast. You will learn about the whole wild food larder dealing with herbs, roots, shoots, berries, flowers, nuts and fungus. At the end of the foraging course, you should be able to easily identify lots of edible plants that you will be able to forage in your own time.
