Frinton Jazz Club – At the Philharmonic

Jazz at the Philharmonic – reviving the famed international concert tours produced by impresario Norman Granz, Frinton Jazz Club presents an afternoon of swinging jazz variety, starring some of the leading lights of the UK scene. Expect a swinging mixture of Duke Ellington, Stan Getz, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Lester Young, Charlie Parker and much more. TRUMPET – Enrico Tomasso – Five-time winner of the Best Trumpet category in the British Jazz Awards, Enrico has performed all over the world with the likes of Acker Bilk, Scott Hamilton, Alan Barnes, Ray Gelato’s Giants and The Pasadena Roof Orchestra. TENOR SAXOPHONE – Martin Dale – Martin is the leading saxophonist in the South West, making a rare visit from Plymouth. He took over from the legendary Dick Morrissey alongside Derek Nash in the John Burch Octet. He and Derek became firm friends and have been sparring partners for over 30 years. He has worked with Jim Mullen, Roy Williams, Dick Pearce, Bruce Adams, Digby Fairweather and Peter King. PIANO – David Newton – the most decorated pianist in the UK having won the award for best pianist 16 times in the British Jazz Awards. He’s performed and recorded with Buddy de Franco, Martin Taylor, Alan Barnes, Claire Martin and was Stacey Kent’s musical director for many years. ALTO/BARITONE SAXOPHONE – Derek Nash – Over 22 years with Jools Holland and the Rhythm and blues Orchestra. Multi British Jazz award winner.
