Direct from London’s world-famous jazz club and combining world-class live jazz, narration, rare archive photos, and video footage, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars take to the stage to celebrate the ‘The Ronnie Scott’s Story’. Set amongst the dive bars and jazz jook joints of London’s Soho, we hear about the desperate hand-to-mouth finances of the early years and the frequent police raids. We hear how Ronnie's became neutral ground within rife gang territory and their scrapes with gangsters including the Krays who were rumoured to have taken Ronnie Scott “for a little drive”! Life at Ronnie’s is evocatively reimagined through tales of the club’s past visitors, from pop stars, film stars and politicians to comedians and royalty - but above all, the musicians… Mixing classic music from the jazz greats who have performed at Ronnie Scott’s over its incredible history, alongside tales of old Soho, miscreant musicians and police raids, this is a unique evening celebrating one of the world's most famous venues, its music, and history.

It’s time to Come Alive with the fun, jam-packed day focused on everything singing, dancing and performance. Following a warmup and some energising games, the performers will throw themselves into two full routines, layering in fun choreography with their top notch singing. There will also be the opportunities for singing and dance solos. This will all come together in a performance for friends and family at the end of the session. Stage Combat (8-10)

This workshop is designed to introduce the fundamentals of stage combat. You will learn how to safely throw punches and kicks as well as staging chokes, grapples, throws and falls. The first rule of Squire Stage Combat's fight club is that no one gets hurt! This taster session is run by a professional fight director with credits ranging from The Rings of Power to The Glyndebourne Opera. The session involves developing a "toolbox fight" which uses as many different stage combat techniques as possible allowing students to explore the creation of an action sequence. Essex Youth Jazz on Tour

The award-winning Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra (EYJO) is led by resident conductor and Guildhall School Professor of Jazz, Martin Hathaway. The ensemble offers advanced young musicians the opportunity to develop jazz technique, stylistic awareness and improvisation skills. Repertoire spans big band standards, contemporary jazz and works by modern composers. EYJO performs regularly at a variety of venues across Essex, including churches, studio theatres and jazz clubs, giving members valuable live experience. Under expert guidance, players refine ensemble skills while exploring creativity and expression, making EYJO a vital platform for aspiring jazz musicians in the region. Young Essex Jazz introduces young musicians to jazz and supports their early development. Part of Essex Music Service offer, the group is a welcoming space for players to build confidence, learn jazz styles, and develop key ensemble skills. Directed by Paul Moylan, the ensemble focuses on core jazz fundamentals, particularly improvisation, listening, and teamwork. Through regular rehearsals, members explore a variety of repertoire while strengthening technique and creativity. Young Essex Jazz provides a clear progression route, preparing musicians to move on to the Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra (EYJO) when ready.

Play in a Day (5-10)

Our Roald Dahl Play in a Day workshop looks at Roald’s life, the wonderful stories he created and the messages that each story shares. Along the way you will meet some of the wonderful characters he created. Play in a Day is a full day participatory workshop. The pupils spend the day with one of our professional workshop leaders putting together their own performance. It’s a fantastic way to get a group working together towards a shared goal. Through kinaesthetic learning they will take part in a fast-paced fun day of workshops and rehearsals driven by a professional Theatre facilitator in order to put together a performance to share with peers and family that they can be truly proud of. The day starts with drama skills and games, the workshop leader will then move on to working through the script picking up on key themes and issues as the day goes on, allowing for discussion and reflection (the drama skills and games in the morning allow the workshop leader to pick out the strongest members of the group who will lead the piece but everyone will have a line – if they feel confident enough to deliver it). Before the end of the day your pupils will present their short performance back to peers/parents, so everyone gets to be involved! For those pupils taking part in the workshop, it is a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, improve public speaking and listening skills and to reinforce the importance of teamwork.

Ray Bubbles, International Bubbleologist and Guinness World Record Holder, is on a mission to master the art of bubble-making and create the ultimate square bubble! This show promises a whirlwind of excitement and surprises, as Ray uses various gases to craft stunning bubble sculptures, effects, and magical displays. Prepare to be amazed as Ray creates a volcano bubble, a soap bubble carousel, a bubble ghost, and even a tornado inside a bubble! The show was inspired by Ray’s work with SEND schools, adult neurodivergent groups, and science centres across Europe. The performance is suitable for children and adults with additional needs.
