IMPORTANT INFORMATIONBooking your place is essential so we can prepare materials and make everyone feel welcome. If you’ve booked but can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else. Join us for a relaxed and inspiring creative workshop led by Jerry, who specialises in charcoals, acrylics and oils. This friendly session is designed for complete beginners to give you the chance to learn directly from an expert in a calm, supportive and enjoyable environment. Come and have a go! During the three-hour afternoon workshop, you’ll be gently guided through basic techniques, helping you to build confidence, develop new skills and enhance your crafting abilities, all at a comfortable, unhurried pace and under the watchful eye of your expert tutor. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or looking to expand your creative knowledge, you’ll feel welcomed, encouraged and supported every step of the way. This session is suitable for all ages and abilities. For the first part of the workshop Jerry will be guiding you through use of charcoal – mark making, drawing and having a go at producing simple shapes such as trees, buildings and clouds. Time allowing, you will then have chance to have a quick experiment doing similar techniques with a flat brush and acylic paint. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to create, so complete beginners are not only welcome, but positively encouraged.

If so, your tutor, Jerry Smith, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing his expert techniques for creating expressive, atmospheric skyscapes. What You’ll Do Follow a structured, step-by-step process to paint a coastal skyscape Create a charcoal sketch to establish composition Develop an outline drawing and underpainting Mix and apply sky colours using acrylics Mix and apply cloud colours with attention to form and light After lunch, explore beach, cliff and sea elements to complete your scene You Will Explore Tonal recession Linear and aerial perspective Mixing colours from primaries Mark-making techniques and handling edges Understanding the painting process from start to finish This Workshop is Perfect for Artists with some painting experience People looking to refine their acrylic techniques Anyone wanting to improve confidence in painting skies, clouds and coastal scenes This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners. Come and join Viv and Fay for a relaxed and friendly creative session where you’ll have the chance to try your hand at cork art using a variety of materials. This is a gentle, three-hour afternoon designed to help you slow down, switch off from everyday stresses and fully immerse yourself in the joy of making. You’ll enjoy a calm, supportive atmosphere focused on social connection, mindfulness and creativity, where there’s no pressure to be perfect … just plenty of encouragement, laughter and time to explore something new. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or simply fancy trying a different technique, this session is all about learning, experimenting and having fun together. By the end of the afternoon, you’ll not only have new skills and something handmade to be proud of, but also a sense of calm, achievement and connection with others. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself and your enthusiasm to create. You will be making a small picture using corks … you can keep the corks whole for a 3D effect, or slice them in half for a lighter effect. There is not time to colour the corks and so your picture will be created using the natural colour of corks.
