Wellness Wednesday

Step out of the rush and into a peaceful, nurturing space designed to help you breathe, unwind and reconnect with yourself. Wellness Wednesday brings you a beautiful line‑up of calming, restorative sessions … all completely free … led by three wonderful practitioners who specialise in supporting all abilities. Across the morning and afternoon, each tutor will offer a 45‑minute taster session, giving you the chance to explore what feels good for your body, your mind and your wellbeing. Your Wellness Guides Julie Soloman — holistic therapist and Dru Yoga instructor offering gentle flow, restorative movement and accessible yoga for everyone, including chair‑based options. Times: 11.30am to 12.15pm – Chair Based Exercise 2pm to 2.45pm – Beginners Yoga Angela Phillips — qualified Health Qigong® and Tai Chi instructor, guiding you through slow, mindful movement that supports balance, calm and inner focus. Chair‑based tuition also available. Times: 9:30am to 10.15am and 1pm to 1.45pm Alex — providing Sound Healing Therapy. Sound baths use rhythm and vibration to help the nervous system slow down, supporting relaxation and recovery. Alex will be using yoga mats on the floor.

Our doors will be open from 1pm … come and get settled and ready for the call “Eyes down!” at 1.30pm Whether you’re a seasoned dabber or a total beginner, this is your chance to enjoy a relaxed, cheerful afternoon with great company. How it works Each game is just £1 to play, get hunting down the back of the sofa for all those £1 coins! Every round has three chances to win: Four Corners One Line Full House And the best bit? Winners take home increasing percentages of the takings for each game. The more people who join in, the bigger the prizes. Cirrus Clarinet Quartet Concert

Our “A Night of Song, Dance & Clarinet Magic” Concert! Get ready to tap your feet, sway in time, and, if the music moves you, step right up and dance along with the Cirrus Clarinet Quartet … a joyful concert of song‑inspired melodies and dance‑filled rhythms, to celebrate the fun of Ilkeston Festival. Cirrus Quartet is made up of four accomplished musicians: Kate Hawkins (Yes! Our Kate) – B clarinet Steve Milner – E, B and alto clarinets (though not all at the same time!) Adam Blakey – B clarinet Phil Smith – Bass clarinet They say: “Our ensemble takes its name from one of the first pieces we performed together, Blue Skies, symbolising our passion for creating uplifting and harmonious music. We are a group of dedicated amateur musicians, each playing a combination of clarinets — E flat, B flat, Alto, and Bass — allowing us to explore a rich and diverse range of musical styles.” The quartet will delight you with a wonderfully varied programme, encompassing traditional music alongside modern and klezmer influences, celebrating the rich colours and expressive range of the clarinet family. Feelgood Friday ... Mental Health Awareness Day

A gentle, welcoming space to talk, breathe, connect and simply be Feelgood Friday is all about creating a calm, judgement‑free space where you can take a breath, slow down and spend time with people who genuinely care about your wellbeing. As part of the Ilkeston Festival, we’re opening our doors for a day of support, conversation, listening and kindness. We know it can feel hard to walk into a new place. So: Take your time. Take a deep breath. Walk up the steps, or wheel up the ramp when you’re ready. And come on in. At Our Crafty Place, you’re welcome exactly as you are. If all you want to do is sit on a sofa with a cuppa and quietly watch the world go by, that’s perfect. If you’d like to chat, we’re here. If you want to take part in something gentle and grounding, we’ve got that covered too. Saturday Craft Fair — Festival Finale

A joyful celebration of creativity, community and all things handmade The final day of the Ilkeston Festival deserves something special so we’re ending the week with a glorious burst of colour, craft and community spirit! Our Saturday Craft Fair is a warm, bustling, laughter‑filled time where makers, artists and neighbours come together to celebrate creativity in all its forms. And yes… entry is completely free. Step inside and you’ll find tables full of beautiful handmade treasures created by a talented bunch of local crafters and artists, each with their own style, story and spark. From textiles to jewellery, artwork to home décor, there’s always something unexpected, something delightful and something you’ll definitely want to take home. A fair where people stay … and stay … and stay! There’s a special kind of magic at our fairs. The kind where you say goodbye to a regular (who “must go now”), only to spot her an hour later still happily chatting away to everyone in the room. That’s the atmosphere … warm, friendly, unhurried and full of connection. Tea, cake and cheerful chatter It wouldn’t be an Our Crafty Place fair without tea, cake and plenty of conversation.

Summer Holiday Fundraiser Craft Day for All Ages

Come and join us for a truly meaningful day of creativity. This summer, Kate is raising money for Blood Cancer UK — Crafting in Memory of her lovely Dad — and we’d love you to be part of it. Kate’s Story “We are fundraising for Blood Cancer UK in loving memory of my dad, who sadly lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His strength, courage, and kindness continue to inspire me every day, and this fundraiser is my way of honouring his memory while helping others affected by blood cancer. At Our Crafty Place, we believe that creativity brings people together. We wanted to use our welcoming craft community to support an important cause, so we’re inviting people to come along, enjoy a creative activity, spend time with others, and help raise money for Blood Cancer UK. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund vital research, improve treatments, and provide support for people and families facing blood cancer. Join Our Pattern‑to‑Mock‑Up Garment Workshop Your tutor, Melinda, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing her friendly, confidence‑building approach to start sewing clothes from your paper pattern. Learn how to make a mock‑up garment. NB: you may not complete your project in 3 hours but you will go home with all the skills to finish it … and with the motivation to make it for real!
