Friday 7 August 2026 – 1pm to 4pm at the Shelter Join us for a fun-filled and heartwarming art workshop at the Cheltenham Animal Shelter, specially designed for creative kids who love animals! Our session begins with an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the Shelter, where children will meet some of the wonderful animals currently waiting for their forever homes. Along the way, they’ll learn about the work the Shelter does and the importance of caring for animals in need. After the tour, we’ll gather for a relaxed and inspiring drawing demonstration. Children will be introduced to pastel pencils and shown how to capture the unique personality of a feline friend through simple techniques in shape, colour, and texture. Then it’s time for everyone to get creative! With guidance and encouragement, the children will all create their own colourful pastel portrait to take home – a perfect memento of a meaningful day. No previous drawing experience is needed – just a love of animals and a willingness to have fun! Understanding dog reactivity

Saturday 12 September – 10am to 1pm Join us for a talk, hosted by our Behaviour Team at Cheltenham Animal Shelter, where you can learn about and understand dog reactivity. This workshop is aimed at those who want to learn more about the motivations behind dog reactivity and ways to work around it. The workshop will mainly be focused on dog-to-dog reactivity with hints and tips on how to manage this behaviour through practical and theory-based teaching brought to you by our behaviour team. You will learn topics such as reactivity body language, trigger stacking, the motivations behind your dog reacting to other dogs – and so much more! You will also learn different ways to focus your dog with mentally stimulating games such as find it, counter conditioning, and name conditioning. This workshop will run for approx 3 hours (with refreshments provided!) and you will leave with an information pack which will include a special offer on one-to-one consultations with our behaviourists if you would like further help and support for your dog(s). “The talk was so relevant, and I left with a much better understanding of how and why my dog behaves as she does and that I can make some changes to improve how she behaves and focus on making her feel more settled and content (reggae music for dogs has been so useful!!) Wednesday 14th October – 6pm to 9pm at the Shelter Are you ready to take on the ultimate test of mind over matter? Join us for our exhilarating Fire and Ice Challenge – an unforgettable evening of adrenaline, entertainment and fundraising in support of our homeless pets. This unique challenge features two powerful elements. Participants will not only complete a sponsored Fire Walk across hot embers, but will also face the Ice Challenge – walking barefoot across broken glass. Together, these challenges are designed to show just how much can be achieved with focus, courage and determination. Everyone who has taken part in previous years has crossed the finish line feeling elated, empowered and proud of their incredible personal achievement. We’ll support you every step of the way, providing guidance and encouragement to help you reach your £150 fundraising target. The evening promises excitement for participants and spectators alike, with a vibrant atmosphere, live performances and warming refreshments.
