An Evening of Ukulele Music, Good Food and Great Company

Join us for an evening of Ukulele music and food! Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable evening of music, conversation, and community spirit as we come together to support an exciting new chapter for Discover Downham. Sit back and enjoy the uplifting sounds of the ukulele while sharing a delicious jacket potato supper with a choice of fillings, accompanied by a glass of wine. As well as live music, there will be opportunities to ask questions, take part in discussion, and learn more about the ukulele and its music. Whether you’re a music enthusiast, a supporter of local heritage, or simply looking for a friendly evening out, this promises to be a warm and welcoming event for all. Tickets are £15 per person and can be booked in advance online or in person at Discover Downham. Every ticket purchased will help raise funds towards our planned new extension, creating more space for exhibitions, activities, and community events. Children's Event (6-11) - Build a Water Feature

Looking for something creative and different to keep the children entertained during the summer holidays? Join us for a fun-filled morning where young builders and designers can create their very own garden water feature using recycled materials. With plenty of imagination, a little teamwork, and lots of hands-on activity, children will transform everyday household items into unique creations to take pride in. No experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get creative! Suitable for children aged 6–11 years. All basic equipment and materials are provided, but to enhance and personalise their creation, please bring along old frying pans, saucepans, bowls, dishes, plant pots, stones, or any interesting items that could become part of their masterpiece. £10 per child, including one accompanying parent and the basic kit. Sweets and refreshments will be available to purchase separately. Wednesday 19 August 2026 10:00am–12:00pm This special event is also helping to build for the future. Described as one of the most remarkable men of the 12th Century, Herbert de Lozinga was not adverse to breaking the law to achieve his ambitions. A talk by Kim D. Leonard about the amazing life and achievements of the man, the founder of King’s Lynn and builder of churches and cathedrals. Wednesday 19th August 7:30 – 9:00pm Entry £5:00 or £4:00 if you are a Discover Downham Member. Everyone welcome, teas and coffees served afterwards no booking required. Maximum 55 places.
