Women Making It Special: Crafting Change – A radical history tote bag workshop

A Story Café session Credit: Lauren McDougall Women Making It Looking for a relaxed, creative space this summer? Join us for hands-on craft sessions where you can try something new and make alongside others in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Activities include candle decoupage art, mandala stone painting, tote bag decorating, outdoor photography art, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just curious to give it a go, these sessions are all about creativity, conversation, and sharing ideas together. Crafting Change – A radical history tote bag workshop Step into the world of nineteenth-century women activists, who shaped political change despite having no formal voice. Inspired by abolitionist* “work bags,” historic texts, and modern protest art, this workshop invites participants to design their own activist tote bags. Using recycled materials, collage, and embroidery, they’ll express causes they care about today. An optional activity encourages creating matching protest leaflets or badges to share their message. *activists campaigning to end slavery and liberate enslaved individuals. Story Café Book now Accessibility Glasgow Women’s Library is wheelchair accessible, with lifts to the first floor and the Mezzanine Floor.
