Together we explore books written by and about Muslim women and women of colour, sharing thoughts and reflections in a relaxed and friendly space. Come and have a chat and a cup of tea, practise your English and meet new friends. Conversation Café is part of our adult literacy and numeracy programme. Join us for conversation, tea and games while we use English and Scottish words and phrases, and learn about each other’s lives and cultures. Some of the things we have talked about include International Women’s Day, seasons and various cultural festivals. Motifs of Sisterhood

Sorting labels for A Jukebox of People Trying to Change the World, Ruth Ewan, 2024 Join past and present students of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for a concert highlighting the lives and contributions of Glaswegian women in the early 20th century. Classical music performances – by women composers of this era, from across the UK and Europe – will be interwoven with stories of women from Glasgow, including pioneering activists, artists, novelists and musicians. From art schools in France to conservatoires in Germany, this concert will bring history to life, showing how these inspirational Glaswegian women were shaped by their travels and the other trailblazing women whose paths they crossed. Merchant City Women's Heritage Walk

Our sell out women’s heritage walks, led by our volunteer tour guides, show Glasgow’s neighbourhoods in a new light, making visible the often hidden and overlooked contributions women have made to the city. Starting near the site of the former Royal Maternity Hospital on Rottenrow, our volunteer tour guides will lead you through the historic streets of this cosmopolitan hub. You can expect stories of scandal, vice, radicalism, regeneration and revival as we highlight the part women have played in this area, from its dear green beginnings, through its darker days, to its recent resurgence. Crafting Change – A radical history tote bag workshop Step into the world of nineteenth-century women activists, who shaped political change despite having no formal voice. Inspired by abolitionist* “work bags,” historic texts, and modern protest art, this workshop invites participants to design their own activist tote bags. Using recycled materials, collage, and embroidery, they’ll express causes they care about today. An optional activity encourages creating matching protest leaflets or badges to share their message. *activists campaigning to end slavery and liberate enslaved individuals.
