Edinburgh Fringe Preview Night

We’re excited to bring you not one but TWO fringe previews on the same night. First up Jon Hipkiss will return to Edinburgh with his show, The Wild One, that was nominated for the Audience Choice Award at the Leicester Comedy Festival. Featuring no agenda, no theme and politics, the show will deliver nothing more than a night of laughter. Rising to become one of the UK’s most hyperkinetic and crowd-pleasing performers, Jon’s performances have seen sold out shows across Edinburgh and beyond. His other touring show, a one-man improvised comedy, is currently trailing the UK in theatres and has seen sold out shows in Newcastle, Birmingham and London. The Wild One also took to the main house stage at The Norbury Theatre for the legendary Rik Mayall Comedy Festival in the summer of 2025. “His set was on fire – 4 Stars” – The National (Scotland). “Hilarious” – Larry Dean”. “Laugh out loud funny,” Jon Richardson. Support for Jack Whitehall. After a break to top up your glasses we welcome the return of Dave Chawner, a number 1 best selling author, award winning stand up, presenter & mental heath campaigner. Entitled Dave Chawner; Dry Humour……..Dave’s given up booze…but does that make him sober? A sharp, self-deprecating look at ageing, changing & identity. As seen on BBC, ITV & Channel 5. Heard on Radio 1, Radio 2 & Radio 4. “Hilariously entertaining” – Mail On Sunday. He’s truly one of the best comics in the country and a great supporter of Live Comedy across the UK.

Sincerely Noel: A Celebration of Noël Coward & so much more

We are delighted to welcome Evesham Festival of Words Festival Patron, Alistair McGowan, and his wife Charlotte Page, to the stunning setting of Bretforton Theatrebarn. Alistair, and Charlotte, bring us their personal selection of some of Noël Coward’s most popular songs in a romantic first half. Think you know Coward? Think again! (With piano accompaniment from Lana Bode.) In the second half, a further mix of piano music and poetry but this time, Alistair reads from his new volume of poetry (Like Never Before) and plays a selection of classical piano pieces by the likes of Glass, Mompou, Poulenc and Amy Beach with, no doubt a few of his famous and unbettered impressions along the way. Alistair McGowan is a comedy actor, writer, singer, and impressionist, best known for the BAFTA-winning TV show, The Big Impression. He began his career by providing voices for the puppets on Spitting Image. He has worked extensively as an actor in theatre and television. His piano ambitions reached new heights in 2018. Having gone back to the piano at the age of 49, he released The Piano Album, which reached number one in the classical chart. April 2026 sees the release of his second collection of poetry. Charlotte Page studied at the Royal Academy of Music. She is well known in opera and music theatre having been a principal soprano with The Royal Opera Covent Garden and other companies.

Evesham Comedy Club with Matt Richardson & Angela Barnes

Join us as our resident host, TV’s Matt Richardson, introduces some of the finest comedy talent in the land! Headlining is the wonderful Angela Barnes. Direct from her latest UK Tour – Angst, Angela is a firm favourite on the comedy scene. Before becoming a comedian, Angela worked in health and social care. In 2011, she won the BBC New Comedy Award and became a finalist at the 2011 Latitude Festival New Act of the Year competition. Since then Angela has become a regular on BBC’s The News Quiz, Newsjack and Mock The Week. She has also appeared on BBC Three’s Russell Howard’s Good News, Russell Kane’s Whistle Stop Tour (BBC Radio 2), and BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show. “Feels like a sure-fire bet the instant she utters her opening lines.” (The Scotsman). “The pace is fast, the material strong and the delivery perfect” (Chortle). “She’s just a gloriously down-to-earth, straight-talking and extremely funny comic” (The Guardian). Supporting Angela are two other great comics: Kate Martin – At 6ft 1, with the longest wingspan in comedy (*probably), Kate’s a naturally engaging, energetic performer with effortlessly tight gags to match. Kate was a finalist of the Funny Women Stage Awards 2022, runner-up in the finals of the WDCF New Comedian of the Year competition 2021, and in 2021 won the Comedy Store’s King Gong, Up the Creeks Blackout, and the Frog and Bucket’s Beat the Frog.
