Folkestone is a Library – Spotlight Event ‘The power of being heard’

Join us for an evening of ideas, stories and good conversation as we take a closer look at Folkestone is a Library and the people bringing it to life. Doors open from 6pm. Our quarterly Spotlight Events shine a light on local and national voices working across storytelling in all its forms, alongside projects and moments tied to key dates in the literary calendar. Guest speakers: Tanzidah Islam, Richard Martin, James Collie and Lydia Hibbert Tanzidah Islam, Cultural Programmes & Events Lead at SD Projects, working at the intersection of art, technology and architecture, hosting events to enrich minds and widen accessibility to subaltern knowledge. The Reading Room, situated at the Old Post Office, Tontine St, is slowly growing with books from guest speakers and local people, ranging from art and poetry to history and children's books. Richard Martin is Chief Executive Officer at the charity Touchbase Care, a welcoming community space where disabled adults come to learn, create, socialise and build independence, based in the Creative Quarter. Touchbase supports people to live with confidence, connection and a strong sense of belonging, guided by its belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard and valued within their community.
