Blues Bar Tring presents: Heidi Browne

As featured on BBC Radio 2 Bob Harris Country and playlisted at stores UK wide, Heidi Browne is a soulful singer-songwriter from Bedfordshire with a wide catalogue of self-penned tracks in her warm, distinctive style. She won national talent show Open Mic UK in 2014 and has been touring ever since, sharing stages with the likes of Roy Wood, Jack Savoretti and most recently The Bluetones. Heidi will be bringing a mix of acoustic singalongs as well as her own originals for an uplifting afternoon of live music.

Jon Amor Trio The Jon Amor Trio was formed in 2023 to indulge in their mutual love of blues and funk. Combining energy with spontaneous improvisation, the Jon Amor Trio have drawn comparisons to Cream, Little Feat and John Mayer. The trio is fronted by vocalist and guitarist Jon Amor, known for his time with The Hoax, but now well-established as a performer in his own right. Paul Cox and The Proof

Paul Cox and The Proof “One of Britains finest blues/soul vocalist” – Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2. Paul Cox has been described as the “heir apparent to Chris Farlowe” and “the Pavarotti of British Blues”. He is quite simply one of the best blues/soul vocalists in the country, right up there with Paul Rodgers, Chris Farlowe and Frankie Miller in his prime. Paul Jones of Radio 2 fame cites him as one of his favourite voices. Since his first pro gig in 1978, with a rock band from Rugby called Oyster, Paul has cut over 14 albums, opened for Ray Charles and Eric Clapton and shared the stage singing with an impressive list which includes Paul Rodgers, Snowy White, Ruby Turner, Sam Brown and Bonnie Tyler. He’s also fronted several top class bands including Frankie Miller’s Full House, John Slaughters Blues Band, Tim Hinckley’s Heart and Soul as well as his own bands, Soul Intention, The Paul Cox Band, and Fire and Water. Over the years he has picked up vast experience of festivals having played many the world over, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival. Pauls’ early musical memories are of singing like those he’d heard on the radio as a teenager in the 70s and on his influences he says, “It’s probably subconscious, but more readily soul-blues style and passionate voices like Otis Redding, Al Green, Paul Rogers, Joe Cocker and Robert Plant”.

He has become the harmonica player of choice for Mud Morganfield when he’s touring Europe, as well as playing with Trickbag in Scandinavia, and then playing on the number 1 album with Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey. They are not a blues band playing blues by aging white Brits, instead you have a collection of strong songs performed with taste, intelligence and dignity with the acoustic rather than the electric guitar to the fore. Mississippi MacDonald

Mississippi MacDonald Back by popular demand after his great show for us back in 2024 Mississippi MacDonald is a three times British Blues Awards nominee, from London. He has been playing since he was 11 years old and has travelled extensively on the US blues trail, meeting, amongst others, Pinetop Perkins, Willie Big Eyes Smith, Otis Clay and BB King. In 2010, he was part of the team that purchased a gravestone for the late Hi Records recording artist and soul legend, OV Wright. His seven albums have had significant international airplay and coverage, making the top 10 of the British Blues charts on four occasions. Paul Jones described him as “splendid…..really really excellent”. Blues In Britain magazine praised “…Mississippi’s Albert Collins’ flavoured guitar work….blistering. Soulful vocals and excellent fretwork. Genuine blues, played with passion and hugely appreciated”.
