Pop-up Parkour

Brings the excitement of parkour, free running, and dynamic movement directly to local community parks and events across the region. Using a variety of purpose-built equipment and obstacles, it offers young people a unique opportunity to explore Parkour movement techniques through jumps, vaults, rolls, and slides with professional coaches in high energy sessions. The workshops will be bookable and led by Ascension Dance Parkour coaches. Each one will have different skills to learn for variety. It’s time for a televised emergency briefing on the climate and nature crisis, introduced by Chris Packham and delivered by independent experts, as the essential first step to unlock the wartime-scale response now required. Our new film, presented by Chris Packham, is being screened in communities and workplaces across the UK to raise awareness and build public support for that government-led briefing. The UK faces a growing climate and nature emergency. Yet most people have never been fully briefed on what it means for our lives, our economy and our future. This film is brought to you by Lightfoot Enterprsies Lightfoot is a not for profit organisation and its principal activity is to promote sustainable use of the Earth’s resources for the benefit of the public and environment. MORE INFO ON LIGHTFOOT Home – Lightfoot Enterprises MPs are invited to every screening to hear the evidence alongside their constituents. The film is intended as a catalyst for a wider public conversation and a stepping stone towards a live televised national briefing, introduced by the Prime Minister and delivered by independent experts, so that the whole country can be fully informed about the risks we face and the solutions available.

Polar Journeys -A Talk by Ben Osborne

Polar Journeys A talk by Ben Osborne Ben Osborne’s new talk, “Polar Journeys”, will take you to the ends of the earth with images and stories from his extensive travels in the polar regions. In the Arctic, we’ll head to Greenland where we travel with huskies, camp on glacial moraines and visit some of the most remote human settlements on the planet. We’ll also visit Svalbard which, at nearly 80 degrees north, is the most northerly inhabited land. This archipelago of islands features dramatic vistas of glaciers and high mountains. Whales and polar bears are highlights of the stunning wildlife. The second half of the talk is centred on the south polar regions and will include the island oasis of South Georgia with its vast penguin and seal colonies. We also visit the Antarctic Peninsula, one of the most scenic regions in Antarctica. Ben has made numerous journeys to both the Arctic and the Antarctic working for National Geographic, the BBC and the British Antarctic Survey. He works as a Polar Guide on small expedition ships. His images have featured in numerous magazines and books; and in 2007 he was the overall winner in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. This talk will be a visual treat and a rare glimpse into some of the least accessible places on earth. Profits from this event will go to the Bishop’s Castle and District Land Trust and SpArC Trust -Theatre Upgrade . We will also have a Raffle and a Licenced Bar.

The Royal Ballet MANON Via Satellite In the seedy underbelly of 18th-century Paris, money is king. Nothing is sacred – even love itself can be bought for the right price. A native of this hedonistic underworld, Manon is caught between twin desires when she falls in love with the student Des Grieux. Steadfast and devoted, he offers the possibility of an honourable life. Yet, the riches promised by the world of Parisian society remain tempting… Manon’s inner turmoil and struggle for survival lie at the devastating heart of Kenneth MacMillan’s 1974 adaptation of Abbé Prévost’s novel. In this signature work of The Royal Ballet, MacMillan’s nuanced understanding of human psychology makes for an unflinching look into the moral degradation of Manon’s Paris, while all its decadence and decay are brought to life through Jules Massenet’s score and Nicholas Georgiadis’s designs. Natalia Osipova performs the Act II solo in Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon
