Kingston Chamber Concert Musical and Amicable – Mozart String Trios and Flute Quartet in D. Mozart’s sparkling first flute quartet (K285) was commissioned by amateur flautist Ferdinand De Jean and completed in Mannheim on Christmas Day 1777. His monumental Divertimento for string trio (K563) was composed in Vienna in 1788, with Mozart playing viola for the first performance. Meanwhile, over in England, the original Musical and Amicable Society was in full swing – a collective of musicians who met in the Cherry Street Tavern “for practice and recreation”! We take you back to the soundworld – and conviviality – they all shared. Entrance opposite John Lewis. Tickets available in advance and on the door.
