This one-day, hands-on course equips skippers and crew of small craft (within 60 miles of a safe haven) with practical knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies. Based on recommendations from the Health and Safety Executive and the Department of Transport, the syllabus covers essential first aid techniques, casualty assessment, resuscitation, and marine-specific scenarios. By the end of the course, participants receive an RYA First Aid Certificate valid for three years — meeting the Department of Transport requirements for small commercial vessels in area categories 2, 3, and 4. Ideal for sailors looking to enhance safety skills, this course combines expert instruction with practical exercises, ensuring you leave prepared, confident, and capable.

River Dinghy Series 4 & 5 2026

Welcome to our Spring River Dinghy Series Race 4 and 5! There are two races during this sailing session lasting approximately half an hour each, with the faster boats completing more laps of the circuit than slower boats in the fleet. Average lap times are calculated using PY handicaps. Races 4 & 5 are the next installment of races for Dinghy racers and will keep in mind there is no set end time for this race as it is dependable on the weather and your dinghy's ability. Location varies due to weather. Races will take place outside our Shoreham Clubhouse. If you have not done so already, please purchase a entry ticket for the 2026 Spring River Series. We request that you RSVP for each individual race.

Actor and Director, Ethan Taylor, of This is My Theatre Company, brings to life Shakespeare’s legacy through a new entertaining and informative one-man play. The year is 1621. Five years after the playwright’s death and plans are afoot to collect his works in the first folio of ‘Mr William Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories & Tragedies’. Ethan plays real-life Shakespeare super-fan, Isaac Jaggard, of Jaggard & Son Printers and Publishers, wrestling with the prospect of immortalising the Bard’s plays in print whilst honouring his hero’s brilliance.  Inspired by Janet Pressley’s talk ‘How Shakespeare Happened’.
