We invite you to Stithians Lake for an exciting day of wildlife surveying on Friday 24 July. Whether you're passionate about conservation or simply love exploring nature, this event is a great way to make a positive impact. Event details Date: Friday 24 July 2026 Time: 9am to 2pm (end time may vary) Meeting point: Stithians Activity Centre car park What you'll be doing During the event, we will be walking around the lake to carry out a butterfly survey and check reptile refugia mats along the way. This hands-on activity will help us record species data essential for monitoring the site and creating improved management plans. Dulverton Trail Fun Run & Canicross 2026

Now in its sixth consecutive year, join us for the popular Dulverton Trail Fun Run & Canicross – cross country running along 5km or 10km routes through the beautiful countryside around Dulverton, Exmoor – with or without your dog of course! The start and finish are located at the Exmoor Lawns, Dulverton beside the River Barle – with refreshments available. Are you brave enough to tackle the Dulverton Demon – a steep, wooded hill leading from Marsh Bridge up towards Court Down?! Beautiful but challenging! New for 2026 – walkers will be invited to join the 5k route! ONLINE BOOKINGS ARE NOW OPEN – click HERE to reserve your space! Exmoor: A Thousand Years in a Hundred Minutes

Join us for another evening of Exmoor on Film with a presentation entitled: Exmoor: A Thousand Years in a Hundred Minutes. After sell out Exmoor on Film evenings in 2024 and 2025, TV programme maker, David Parker will return to Dulverton on Wednesday 14 October with a presentation he has created about the last 1000 years of Exmoor. David has made many films over the years that have told stories of Exmoor in the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and the time of the Romans, as well as the Vikings, the Normans, the Medieval Period. There are also more recent clips of film from the Victorian Era, during the Second World War and the modern day. The film screening will see David having assembled all these various clips to form a fascinating film detailing a chronological timeline of Exmoor. Tickets will be available from September, both online here and also in person at the Dulverton Town Hall Thrift Shop.

Dulverton Gardening Club October Talk Thursday 15 October – Saul Walker – ‘Woodland Gardening – The Art of Growing in Shade’ Saul was head gardener at Stonelands House, National Trust and is Kew trained. He has been on the show management team for RHS Hampton Court and the Chelsea Flower Shows. He is a lifelong horticulturist and plantsman and is host of ‘Talking Heads’- a gardening podcast since 2020. He sits on the trustee board of the Hardy Plant Society.
