Formal Garden Volunteering

10:00 Wednesday 22 July Volunteer Formal Garden Maintenance. The formal gardens are maintained by a team of volunteers, supporting the park staff. Activities include pruning, planting, weeding, edging and general tidying. Tasks vary, as directed by Park Staff. No need to book (unless a group of 4 or more). Meet by the Camelia house at 10.00. Car parking passes can be arranged by the task leader. We also normally meet in one of the cafes afterwards for a free drink and chat. The children have access to our two halls, one with toys for those on their feet and the other a protected space for babies and quieter activities (puzzles, books). We also have another room where there is something crafty to do – sticking, drawing, painting, playdoh…… We sometimes have Story Time and always finish with Singing Time.

Community Hoop Weaving

IMPORTANT INFORMATION Booking your place is essential so we can prepare materials and make everyone feel welcome. If you’ve booked but can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else. Come and join Viv and Kate for a relaxed and friendly creative session where you’ll have the chance to try your hand at Hoop Weaving using a variety of materials. This is a gentle, three-hour afternoon designed to help you slow down, switch off from everyday stresses and fully immerse yourself in the joy of making. You’ll enjoy a calm, supportive atmosphere focused on social connection, mindfulness and creativity, where there’s no pressure to be perfect … just plenty of encouragement, laughter and time to explore something new. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or simply fancy trying a different technique, this session is all about learning, experimenting and having fun together. By the end of the afternoon, you’ll not only have new skills and something handmade to be proud of, but also a sense of calm, achievement and connection with others. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself and your enthusiasm to create. Starting with a wooden hoop (that has notches in it) you will thread it up to look like a wheel with spokes.
