Christianity has always met with opposition to varying degrees. Jesus predicted it (John 15:18-19). Paul, the first great evangelist, often faced opposition. In his travels Paul reached the Greek city of Thessalonica and preached there for three weeks. Many responded favourably to Paul's preaching and became Christians. But many also opposed him, started a riot and drove him out of the city (Acts 17:1-5). The gospel has that effect on people. Upon hearing it some decide to follow Jesus and some don't. There are several reasons why people reject the gospel. Churchgoing is unfashionable and who want to be out of fashion? Another reason is peer pressure; it can be difficult to go against the flow. Are you resisting the call of God on your life because churchgoing is unfashionable? Or because of peer pressure? Are you locked into herd mentality and don't want to rebel? Is God calling you? Breakout! If you have rejected Christianity without investigating it then be rational: try church before passing judgement.

Dee Don Danube (Past Event AJF 2026)

This Event has now ended A unique collaboration uniting musicians from Aberdeen and its twin city Regensburg in Germany, the Dee Don Danube project has been a highlight of Aberdeen Jazz Festival for many years. Drawing on connections between the two cities, the group presents original music shaped by shared traditions, new friendships and an open, creative approach to improvisation. From Aberdeen, vocalist AiiTee and pianist Neil Birse will be joined by Josef Nitsch and Julius Peter Nitsch. AiiTee is a talented up and coming singer/songwriter based in Scotland. Originally from Nigeria, AiiTee’s style is a unique blend of Afrobeat, Soul, Gospel and R&B. She started releasing music at the start of 2020 and has seen her music grow from strength to strength. Aberdeen-born Neil Birse is a superb jazz pianist and composer who has built a rich and varied career performing across Scotland, London and beyond. His playing combines technical skill with a wonderful feel for improvisation and he brings real energy and creativity to every performance. Peter Julius Nitsch (1980) from Regensburg, Germany, studied in Amsterdam and New York, played and lived in Amsterdam, New York, Rio De Janeiro, now living in Berlin, played with musicians a.o. Nils Landgren, Edu Ribeiro and Candy Dulfer. Josef Nitsch (1979) from Regensburg Germany, studied in The Hague, currently lives there too, played with musicians a.o. Branford Marsalis, John Ruocco and David Liebman.
