Head on down to the beach to the Cove Cafe, Hayle, the perfect location to forage for edible coastal plants and wild food. The course is fun and informative and run by the hugely knowledgeable Emma, Creator and owner of “Never mind the Burdocks”. (we love the name!!) After the foraging session, you will be welcomed back to the Cove Cafe for a delicious lunch and refreshments. What Emma doesn’t know about foraging isn’t worth knowing, this unique, highly informative and great day out is sure to kick start any budding wild food lover. Course Overview Duration: 10:00-14:30 Max student to tutor ratio: 12/1 Tutor: Emma Gunn – Never mind the burdocks Welcome talk, orientation and safety briefing During this session we will cover the aim of the course, toilet facilities, course area and safety briefing. Don’t forget to wear suitable clothing and footwear and always bring a waterproof ready for the changeable Cornish weather!! Foraging around The Beach Located in an ideal environment for a coastal foraging course in Cornwall, your group will be taken on a foraging excursion around the sand dunes and beach where you will explore many different environments – including hedgerow, beach, sand dunes and coast. You will learn about the whole wild food larder dealing with herbs, roots, shoots, berries, flowers, nuts and fungus. At the end of the foraging course, you should be able to easily identify lots of edible plants that you will be able to forage in your own time.

The set list takes note of the current political climate and includes self penned songs ‘Diamonds and Rust’, ‘The Winds of the Old Days’, Dylan greats such as ‘Love Is Just A Four Letter Word’, ‘There But For Fortune’, ‘Farewell Angelina’ and the wonderful catalogue from songwriters Stevie Wonder, PhilOchs, Janis Ian and not forgetting the early Folk covers, ‘The Banks of the Ohio’, ‘House of the Rising Sun’ and many more hits. Sarah, a recent finalist in the ‘International Songwriting Competition’, also delves into the Spanish language repertoire Joan loved so much. Sarah’s ‘warm rich voice’ with sweet higher notes, lends itself perfectly for this special evening of songs and stories. As Sarah learns more about Miss Baez’s life and career, she feels she can relate to her in many ways, making the project a very personal, interesting and inspiring experience.

Back in the studio, you will be shown how to extract a composition from your drawings to develop into a fresh mixed-media abstract piece.
