Be prepared/ Know the tune/Know what key you’d like to play the tune in. 3. Bring charts for the band if you’re going out of standard Jazz repertoire. 4. After the melody is finished, allow room for everyone to solo. 5. Please don’t come onto the stage unless you are called up. 6. Be kind and supportive to other performers. 7. Both Sackey and Macpherson were born in the U.S. — Sackey in New York, Macpherson in Los Angeles — and moved to Africa with their families at a young age. The son of Ghana’s ambassador to the United States, Sackey was a child prodigy, composing and performing arrived in Africa at age eight, and though he didn’t pursue music until he was an adult, growing up surrounded by African music and rhythms planted the seeds of his love of music and his future career.
