Open Silent Meditation

The Salisbury Centre is offering a welcoming space for silent community meditation every weekday In the morning at 8:00 – 8:30 am, and In the afternoon at 5:30 – 6:00 pm. Additionally, there is a meditation every Friday 12:00-12:45 pm. These meditations are non-denominational and accessible to all; no experience is needed. The form is 30 minutes of silence, sometimes started with a dedication or invocation. You may sit in any way you find comfortable. A selection of chairs, cushions, stools and even blankets are provided. Practicalities These are 30-minute sessions of silent contemplation (except for Friday 12pm one, which is 45 mins), run by volunteers. Whilst these meditations are not guided as such, feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns before or after the meditation. Everybody is welcome to just drop in, no need to book ahead. Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 2pm The Shed is a welcoming, safe space where people living in North Edinburgh can come to make or mend stuff using recycled wood. We aim to create a fun space where our members can meet new people, learn new skills, and feel supported to realise their creative ambitions. If you want to learn about wood-making, up-cycle your home furniture or make something new out of recycled wood, come and join us! Tools, space, and support will be provided. Leith is a proper waterfront neighbourhood with its own distinct character and a Royal Yacht Britannia that sits right by the quay. The area has always had a lively feel without needing to shout about it, so you can wander down to the harbour or catch a show nearby. It feels like a place where people actually know each other's names. There are plenty of markets and pop-up stalls depending on the season, plus regular theatre nights that keep the local crowd entertained. We've got the Royal Yacht Britannia for history buffs and various community groups putting on events all year round. Just walk into the street and you'll find something to do without having to plan a trip abroad.
