Michaela Chamberlain will be joined by Juliet Rosenfeld to discuss her book and talk through its themes, discussing how individuals become misogynists and how unacknowledged misogyny infiltrates everyday life. Michaela and Juliet’s discussion will blend psychoanalytic theory with personal, clinical, and cultural insights on misogyny to help us move beyond analysis to action, calling for awareness and change. Please click here if you would like to purchase an online ticket. ________________________________________________________________________ About the book Building on her first book, Misogyny in Psychoanalysis, and drawing on her experiences as a psychotherapist, mother, and researcher, Michaela Chamberlain uses psychoanalytic theory to examine what causes misogyny and how misogyny is internalised, enacted, and justified. Revisiting Freud’s case of Dora and Winnicott’s concept of the “good enough mother”, she explores how these foundational psychoanalytic ideas continue to echo in contemporary expectations placed on women– particularly around sexuality, care, and emotional labour.
