Are you an amateur artist wanting to improve your skyscape techniques? If so, your tutor, Jerry Smith, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing his expert techniques for creating expressive, atmospheric skyscapes. What You’ll Do Follow a structured, step-by-step process to paint a coastal skyscape Create a charcoal sketch to establish composition Develop an outline drawing and underpainting Mix and apply sky colours using acrylics Mix and apply cloud colours with attention to form and light After lunch, explore beach, cliff and sea elements to complete your scene You Will Explore Tonal recession Linear and aerial perspective Mixing colours from primaries Mark-making techniques and handling edges Understanding the painting process from start to finish This Workshop is Perfect for Artists with some painting experience People looking to refine their acrylic techniques Anyone wanting to improve confidence in painting skies, clouds and coastal scenes This workshop is not suitable for complete beginners. If you can confidently handle a paintbrush and understand basic acrylic techniques, you’ll be will guide you through each step, offering demonstrations, tips and personalised support throughout the day. Crafty Wellbeing and Connections is a gentle, creative Thursday morning session designed to help you unwind, meet others and enjoy the simple joy of making. Each week you’ll explore accessible craft activities in a relaxed, friendly space where you can slow down, switch off and reconnect with yourself and the people around you. These gentle, no‑pressure sessions are perfect whether you’re completely new to crafting or simply looking for a mindful pause in your week. They offer space to learn, experiment and enjoy being part of a caring, creative community. By the end of the morning, you’ll leave with your very own piece of embroidery with a difference, a sense of achievement and the warm feeling that comes from spending time with others in a positive, creative environment. Everyone is welcome, just bring yourself and an openness to explore. Our Crafty Project Club in Ilkeston, runs every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm at Our Crafty Place, 1 Corporation Road. For just £5 per session. What to Expect at Our Crafty Project Club This friendly weekly club brings people in Ilkeston together through craft, community, and companionship.
