Educational group visiting Makespace - FYI and Volunteering opportunity

Makespace (Cambridge, UK) **Volunteering opportunity** \- please \.com if you could help with this \(anything from helping with an actual activity\, to just being present in the room at the same time\) I will be at Makespace with a group of 10-15 (aspiring engineering) students for a visit. The plan includes a brief tour of the space, some equipment demonstrations, and time for the students to learn some skills: 1. learning to solder - mini PCBs with LEDS and resistors 2. engraving keyrings using laser cutter (students do minimal design on computer - a trained makespace member operates the laser cutter) Please note that this will not restrict or interfere with anyone else’s use of the space—we simply wanted to give you a heads-up that a group of young people will be present during that time. Makespace (Cambridge, UK) **Calling all members** Join us for the monthly "**Make the Space**"!! This is a fantastic opportunity to roll up your sleeves and help us clean, fix, and improve our shared space. No computers, meetings or long winded discussions, just getting things done that need doing. We have a list of tasks that need attention, and every bit of help makes a difference! Not only will you be contributing to the community, but you'll also have a chance to meet fellow members and make new connections. **What to Expect:** \*A mix of cleaning, organising, and fixing * A short break at 11:30 for tea, coffee, and biscuits \*A collaborative atmosphere between like-minded people If you have any suggestions or specific tasks you think need doing, feel free to comment below or add them to the list in the hallway. Raspberry Pi, Arduino/Microcontrollers and CAD Club Night

Makespace (Cambridge, UK) Tuesday nights in the Makespace Classroom are Raspberry Pi, Arduino/Micro-controllers and CAD Club meet-ups. Come and join fellow coding and computer aided design enthusiasts for an informal evening of tinkering with tech. Help is on hand to assist you with any problems. Bring along a project you're working on or need help with. We typically have a regular group of Raspberry Pi and Pico experts to help you if you need it. SOLIDWORKS and FreeCAD help is also on hand. **CASTEM Club** is a hands-on STEM club for children and young people. We meet regularly at Makespace and run excit--ing projects involving Raspberry Pi, robotics, rocketry, mini satellites (CanSAT), CAD, and more. Our sessions are aligned with the Pi and CAD club, offering a creative space to explore tech and engineering. Come along to one of our meetups to see what we do and how you can get involved—whether you're a curious student, parent, or potential volunteer. ML/AI Club meetup

Makespace (Cambridge, UK) Please join us for our next AI Club session. AI Club is a community for people interested in understanding, experimenting with, and building with artificial intelligence. The purpose of the club is to learn together, share experience, support each other’s projects, and explore where these technologies are heading. This is MakeSpace AI Club, so the emphasis is practical: testing ideas, sharing what works, learning from each other, and finding possible collaborations where interests align. Sessions are informal and discussion-led. They typically include a mixture of updates, demonstrations, short presentations, technical exploration, and wider discussion. Topics may include AI tools and workflows, local models, coding assistants, Linux and infrastructure, machine learning, business applications, education, scientific discovery, governance, and the wider social and philosophical implications of AI. Members range from curious non-specialists through to people with technical and professional experience. You do not need to be an expert to take part. The only requirements are an enquiring mind, a commitment to truth-seeking, and a willingness to learn and contribute constructively. We meet every other Thursday at 6:30pm UK / London time. In-person attendance is open to MakeSpace members and guests of MakeSpace members.

Makespace (Cambridge, UK) Welcoming all levels of woodworkers, aspiring to seasoned; hand-tool enthusiasts to machine-oriented. This week we're going to continue what we did last week: revisiting our cutting list, listing all of our operations (drilling, domino jointing, routing etc.), and then continuing to machine the timber we bought. It will be a noisy exercise so **please bring your own PPE** (ear, eye and dust protection) if you have it. As always - you are encouraged to bring any projects you’re working on along for input and guidance. Don’t worry if you haven’t joined before.
