Open Studio Access

Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes. This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel. You can come for 2, 4 or 6 hours. This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. If you book for 2 or 4 hours please email to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. From February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

Watercolour

Join us in the gallery for our Watercolour Wednesday afternoon. Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. In this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. (See photo) All materials provided for this class. This session is very informal and relaxed. It’s taught by veteran watercolour artist Karen Buckels who has spent a lifetime of teaching art. “If yours isn’t at the same standard as mine then it’s my fault and NOT YOURS and i’ve never had a failure yet!” ~ Karen Buckels. This session will start at 1pm. Please note that if you wish to use our Tearoom after the workshop you must book via our website as we cannot guarantee availability. We work hard to price our workshops fairly and offer good value for money. You will need to have previously attended one of Karen’s classes where the technique of watercolour is taught, if you haven’t please book on the 1pm class first. Watercolour Pencil & Stitch

Join Victoria from Little House of Victoria in this is a mixed media workshop for which you will receive a beautiful kit to take home with you and to work on in the class. The kit includes beautiful watercolour pencils, a printed panel in a choice of my designs, a set of pure silk perle and stranded threads, written instructions, and of tuition throughout the workshop. This workshop is completely suitable for beginners and for advanced crafters and stitchers alike. We will first colour in the printed panel with the pencils, before adding water and watching the magic happen, this is so therapeutic! We will then explore ways of stitching to enhance the panel, I will provide as much guidance as possible with the stitching, and if you haven’t stitched for a while or ever before, that is absolutely fine. In terms of design, you can follow my examples, or go completely off piste with your own creation, this is very much encouraged. There will be a choice of printed designs, all measuring 24 x 24 cm, printed on organic cotton. We will also discuss uses for your panels, and how to take them into a project following this workshop.

'Peter Puffin" Acrylic Workshop

Join Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts in this Acrylic ‘Peter Puffin’ Painting workshop. Before starting the project, Helen will explain everything about the paints, brushes and techniques to be used during the session, so this is a perfect opportunity to try acrylic painting if it’s new to you! If you’ve used them before, you’ll be familiar with how versatile and fun they can be! On a sturdy piece of cream mountboard, you will be given a pre-drawn outline of ‘Peter Puffin”, so you don’t need to worry about drawing him. You can then enjoy painting in all the details to create a lovely medium-sized finished picture to keep. Acrylic paints, once dry, are completely permanent! Therefore, please ensure you wear suitable clothing which won’t matter if the paint gets onto it! Please don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your projects home in – a small lidded tray or box will be fine. All levels of experience welcome (Age 12 upwards). Full instructions will be given to everyone during the session. Guided by expert tutors; Lucy Mellor and Polly Mellor, you will begin by covering the fundamentals of how to hold the dip pen, learning the pressures and rhythms that give calligraphy its characteristic contrasting strokes before moving onto learning the upper and lower alphabet, how to link letters, first words and phrases. You will learn how to draw decorative illustrations and flourishes to complement your calligraphy lettering on stationery pieces. Join Anita from wick-ed Candle Refills for this 2 hour workshop where she will show you the simplest and quickest way to produce luxury natural soy wax scented candles and provide everything you need to do so. Within the workshop we will teach you how to make/refill your own candles and have the confidence to create your own large 250ml scented soy wax candle to take home and enjoy.
