Open Studio Access Tues 14th April from 9.30am

Our newly extended Open Studio Access allows you to come and use the pottery workshop facilities to create your own makes.  This can be hand-building projects or on the potters wheel.  You can come for 2, 4 or 6 hours.  This is not a taught session so although our Pottery Teachers will be on hand for support and advice they will not teach one-to-one. If you book for 2 or 4 hours please email to let us know what time you will be attending so we can ensure there is enough room for everyone. From February 2026 we have a new arrangement starting. Open Access will run every Tuesday from 9.30am – 3.30pm. You must buy your clay from us (cost covers clay, glazes and 2 firings). Hourly Open Access rates have been reduced.

Beginners Potters Wheel Evening Course 14th April - 5th May 6-8pm

This 4 x session evening course is an introduction to making pots on the potters wheel. You will learn how to prep, centre and manipulate the clay to create your own forms. Our Pottery Teacher will focus on teaching you how to pull cylinders to a workable height.  You will also be shown basic turning techniques to finish your pots off before firing. The course will run on four consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on 14th April until 5th May, from 6pm until 8pm.  If you cannot attend a session due to prior commitments or illness, unfortunately we are unable to provide additional sessions to catch up. Our building shuts at 5pm so access will only be available from 5.45pm and our Tearoom will be closed. Please drive in via our middle gates. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as anyone who needs a complete refresher on techniques. Adults only. Watercolour Wednesday 15th April 1pm

Join us in the gallery for our Watercolour Wednesday afternoon. Got a degree in art or never held a brush before come and paint with Karen. In this session you will be guided step-by-step to create a miniature watercolour landscape painting incorporating a range of techniques. (See photo) All materials provided for this class. This session is very informal and relaxed. It’s taught by veteran watercolour artist Karen Buckels who has spent a lifetime of teaching art. “If yours isn’t at the same standard as mine then it’s my fault and NOT YOURS and i’ve never had a failure yet!” ~ Karen Buckels. *NEW* Professional Development - Screenprinting onto Clay Weds 15th April 1.30pm

This is a new series of workshops we are running aimed at people who are regular makers and have an interest in developing their skills and knowledge. Each session will focus on a different topic or technique. Please email if you have any questions regarding these workshops. This skills-based workshop introduces screen-printing techniques for use on ceramics.  Attendees will work with a selection of ready-made screens and learn how to print directly onto clay as well as how to use the same screen with a jelly plate to transfer designs onto a bisque-fired piece.  By exploring and comparing both methods, participants will gain practical experience and confidence to incorporate screen printing into their own ceramic work. Exploring Watercolour Workshop Sat 18th April 1:30pm

Join Helen Worthington from Evendawn Arts in this ‘Exploring Watercolour’ Workshop. This is a perfect taster workshop for anyone who’s always wanted to try watercolour painting but have been too nervous to! It’s also great for those with a small amount of experience to practice looser painting styles and build confidence. The aim of this ‘Exploring Watercolours’ class is to have FUN, and to get past the anxiety many people experience when approaching watercolour painting! There is absolutely NO DRAWING involved, so you can simply enjoy playing with the paints, without stressing over the outcome. You’ll explore how to use a basic set of colours and see the way they blend and harmonise on paper, along with using different types of brushes and some more unusual tools to create fascinating effects. There will be a selection of simple and enjoyable exercises, which will offer you a great basis in watercolor painting. You may then want to explore these topics further at later date. This is not the type of class for those with more advanced watercolour skills, or those wishing to learn how to draw/paint landscapes or ‘formal’ types of work. ** NEW** Two session Potters Wheel Teapot set Sun 26th April 10.30am

This workshop is aimed at intermediate potters who are able to centre and shape 2lb of clay. During this one full day session and a half day session you will be guided on how to throw a teapot with a lid, a sugar bowl with lid, a milk jug and a mug, plus a spoon.  There will be plenty of time to create your pieces, turn them and construct. Once dried and fired you will return on Sunday 24th May 10.30-12.30 to glaze your pieces. All clay and glazes are included. This is a new series of workshops we are running aimed at people who are regular makers and have an interest in developing their skills and knowledge. Each session will focus on a different topic or technique. Please email if you have any questions regarding these workshops. In this hands-on session, attendees will be able to ‘play’ to create their own small texture tiles in clay that we will then cast with plaster to produce texture tiles which can be used repeatedly in designs, a spin on the infamous textured rolling pin. If time, we will also look at creating plaster stamps to add symbols and simple designs to clay. Ceramic Whale Sat 2nd May 10.30am

This is one of our most popular workshops and sells out fast so book your places whilst you can. Our Pottery Teacher Vikki will guide you step-by-step to create your own impressive whale.  Aimed at people who have touched clay before this workshop will test your modelling skills but is very accessible. Full support and guidance is provided.  Once your piece is finished, it will be left to dry for 2 weeks before its first firing.  You can then return to glaze or leave instructions for our teachers to glaze it in your colour choice. Your finished creations will be ready to collect after its glaze firing. Adults only please. Please note we cannot transfer or refund your bought places unless they can be filled.
