Secret Samlesbury

Explore the secrets of Samlesbury Hall in a unique guided tour experience ‘behind the scenes’… Join your host for a 60-minute guided history tour of the mansion including rooms which are usually closed to the public. Your tour includes The Great Hall, Parlour, Entrance Hall, Chapel, Attics and Cellars. After the tour, handle and examine items from the Hall’s private archive including house plans, photographs and ancient documents which have been stored away for centuries. Begins at 7.30pm and lasts approximately 60 minutes. The tour includes staircases. Document handling requires white gloves to be worn, which will be supplied. £18.00 (+ booking fee) per person.

Summer Fayre

Samlesbury Summer Fayre Sunday 30th & Monday 31st August 2026 10am – 4pm Celebrate the end of the season at the Samlesbury Summer Fayre, and catch the last of the sunshine with the family. Step back in time with guided tours of our historic Hall, browse our local artisan food and craft market and soak up the atmosphere of our incredible 701 year old house with live music and a courtyard disco. Children will love the fairground rides, face painting, lawn games, tin can alley, and of course hook-a-duck in the courtyard fountain. There’s activities for all the family – bring along your pooch to test their skills on our dog agility course. The BBQ will be sizzling, with drinks available from our fully licensed bar, plus lunches in The Garden Room Eatery, or something a little sweeter in Maria’s Tea Room and Gift Shop. Ice-creams, cakes, teas and coffees! Entry is by voluntary donation, plus don’t forget to enter our raffle, supporting the Samlesbury Hall Charitable Trust (526052), where we will have some fantastic prizes on offer!

For the first time in history, Samlesbury Hall is inviting the public to take part in a unique ghost hunting adventure like no other. Like psychical researcher Hereward Carrington, spiritualist Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and spirit seeker Charles Dickens – who stayed at Samlesbury Hall in 1867, perhaps as part of his personal fascination to find a genuine haunted house, YOU can become part of Samlesbury Hall’s haunted heritage by taking part in The Great Victorian Ghost Hunt on Friday 13th March 2026. Samlesbury Hall is reputedly one of the most haunted houses in Britain with records of 13 different ghosts which are alleged to haunt the historic manor house and its grounds.  Published accounts of ghostly encounters at the hall date back to 1873, the most famous of which is that of Lady Dorothea Southworth, a young Elizabethan woman who fell in love with the wrong person and paid the price for doing so… Paul Howse from the Samlesbury Hall Ghost Project, who have created the event said “Samlesbury Hall is one of the UK’s crown jewels in terms of supernatural heritage and as part of our 700th anniversary of the hall next year we thought it was about time we took our ghosts seriously.  There are countless ghost hunting teams in the UK, but what we have created is totally unique in its approach.  Rather than walking around in the dark with gimmicky flashing boxes, we are harkening back to the grand age of the Victorian era, and using techniques and equipment that psychical...

The inTrUDORS - Immersive Adventure Game Experience

Step back in time to the 16th century, where secrecy, deception, and survival intertwine in a high-stakes game of social deduction, interactive drama and historic quest. Welcome to The inTrUDORS — a gripping immersive experience set within the atmospheric chambers and vast grounds of Samlesbury Hall, a 14th-century manor with a dark, turbulent past. In this multi-layered 3.5-hour adventure, 30 players are placed into two factions of unknown number: the Challengers who seek to evade the inTrUDORS, and the inTrUDORS who are bent on sabotaging their every move. But there’s a devilish twist: No one knows who’s who. The inTrUDORS blend seamlessly among the Challengers, hidden in plain sight, manipulating and sabotaging efforts to gather crucial information. Meanwhile, the Challengers must rely on their wits and teamwork to solve puzzles, unearth secrets, and stay one step ahead in a race against time. The game unfolds across three interactive role-playing Timeslips, each one transporting you to a different time during the 16th century. Explore the shadowed corridors and hidden chambers of Samlesbury Hall, encountering some of history’s most famous figures including Queen Elizabeth I, William Shakespeare, Matthew Hopkins, Guy Fawkes and King Henry VIII. Each character poses cryptic riddles and challenges that hold the keys to progressing through the game.
