Seth Lakeman: Freedom Fields

Seth Lakeman was catapulted into the music mainstream when he was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005 for his album ‘Kitty Jay’. His follow up was the gold-selling ‘Freedom Fields’ and Seth celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original release of that album with two huge tours in May and October 2026. ‘Freedom Fields’ which includes ‘Lady of the Sea’, ‘King and Country’ and ‘White Hare’ was released twice in 2006. Produced by his brother Sean Lakeman it came out on iScream and was then re-released by Relentless (EMI) where it went on to become Seth’s first of 6 UK Top 40 albums. “Delicious harmonies and the occasional fiery fiddle are the order of the day, with his impressive song-writing skills shining out of every tune.” BBC Music (Freedom Fields) Freedom Fields helped Seth build on his traditional cult following but found him a whole new audience for his rhythmic, captivating brand of indie-folk song writing. He was named Folk Singer of the Year, and ‘Freedom Fields’ awarded Album Of The Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2007. Multiple albums, tours and high-profile collaborations later, the acclaimed folk artist released his latest studio album The Granite Way, in February 2025 on his own label, Honour Oak Records. This is a collection of songs recorded alongside a group of longtime collaborators of Seth’s, staying true to his roots and referring to ancient stories that inspired early West Country storytelling on albums like Kitty Jay and Freedom Fields.

This special evening offers a rare chance to see Sir Tony Robinson live onstage, reflecting on a career that has helped shape our cultural landscape whilst entertaining audiences of all ages. Sir Tony will revisit some of the defining moments of his distinguished career — from the enduring brilliance of Blackadder to the ground-breaking success of Time Team and beyond. With his trademark charm and humour, he shares the stories behind the screen and reflects on his connection with audiences across decades. The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A and a book signing. Sir Tony Robinson has built a remarkable career across stage and screen. Trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, he began his career in theatre and early television, quickly establishing himself as a talented character actor. He rose to national prominence in the 1980s with his portrayal of Baldrick in the hugely successful Blackadder, a performance that secured his place in British comedy history. In the years that followed, Sir Tony expanded his career into presenting, becoming the face of Time Team, the ground-breaking archaeological series he fronted for two decades, helping to bring history and archaeology to a wide mainstream audience.

Jeremy Bowen: Truth Under Fire Gaza. Ukraine. Syria. Sudan. Yemen. The world is facing more armed conflicts than at any point in decades, and Jeremy Bowen has reported from the centre of nearly all of them. As the BBC’s International Editor, Jeremy has spent over 40 years covering more than 90 countries and 20 wars. From El Salvador in 1989 to the frontlines today, he has interviewed world leaders, documented war crimes, been shot at, and survived to tell the stories. But something has changed. Israel imposes restrictions on journalists from entering Gaza. Russia controls the narrative in occupied Ukraine. Governments from Syria to Sudan restrict access, manipulate information, and discredit reporters who contradict official accounts. In the age of social media, competing claims flood our screens, but who is telling the truth? And how do we know? Jeremy has spent his career fighting for access, verifying what others want hidden, and bearing witness when governments would rather the world look away.
