FREE 12 Word Stories Workshop

Create a 12-word story about the natural world – animals, rivers, trees, plants, growth, renewal, recycling –the sky’s the limit. Using retro cut-out letters, collage, scissors and glue stick you’ll make the words on the page pop. AND your story will be included in a 12-Word Story Exhibition at Quay Arts in September. Part of the IW Biosphere Festival 27th June to 5th July .

Sashiko Stitching with Liz Cooke

Sashiko means “small stabs” and is a Japanese sewing technique that uses an even running stitch to create practical and decorative patterns. It is very effective for visibly mending jeans, denim jackets, heavyweight shirts and trousers. Creating samplers can be a very relaxing and mindful activity in itself.

Traditional Basket Weaving with Gina Dyer

In this beginner-friendly two-day workshop, you’ll learn about the tools and traditional weaving techniques used by our ancestors. Using buff willow and other natural fibres from the garden, you’ll create your own unique round basket. Day one focuses on making the base, and on day two you’ll continue weaving as your basket grows into a beautiful handmade piece.
