Southern Spanish tapas class & lunch

Learn how to create five crowd-pleasing, soul food tapas dishes in this tapas class with proud Gibraltarian Giselle Benrimoj. Giselle has spent much of her life living and cooking in Andalusia in southern Spain. Giselle worked and trained in kitchens from her teens and has worked as a chef ever since. Coming from a family with a long line of chefs, you can imagine the beautiful recipes and stories that she has inherited. Tapas is a very fun and informal way of eating in Spain. It consists of a series of small dishes, usually shared around the table, and does not have the structure of a normal meal (like a starter or main course), but is more about grazing and chatting with friends. It's a fun way to socialise and share food. Create wonderful connection and food-sharing memories with your friends and family with these knock-out tapas recipes. The three and a half hour experience takes place between 11am and 2:30pm at the Strawberry Tree restaurant and costs £95 per person, or a discounted price of £75 per person for 2 people. Please to book. Itinerary Cooking class 11am - 1pm Together you will make three dishes: croquetas - a labour of love, these deep-fried little balls of joy come in many flavours. Fish albóndigas in a rich almond sauce - delicate balls of minced fish in an almond sauce - as Moorish as it comes, and salmorejo - a favourite cold soup. Ideal for lunch any day and easy to make - when you know how.

Lyme Regis Christmas Lights Switch On

It's that special time of year when Lyme really starts to twinkle. Spirits are expected to be high on Saturday 22nd November 2025 as Lyme Regis begins its countdown to Christmas with the big switch on of the town’s Christmas lights. The lighting up of Lyme never fails to draw crowds and gasps of wonder from onlookers soaking up the magical seasonal atmosphere. This year Santa will again be arriving on his sleigh to switch on the lights. The afternoon celebrations commence with the Christmas lantern making workshop at Pine Hall, Lyme Regis Baptist Church at 2pm. This is a free event with all materials provided and is great fun for kids and all the family. Prizes will be awarded for the best lanterns in each age category with judging taking place at 4pm. Lanterns made at home are welcome to enter the competition. Following the judging, the lantern parade will make its way down Broad Street from around 5pm. Lyme Regis Majorettes will be adding a bit of extra sparkle to the proceedings with an energetic routine along with Fitsteps and Lyme Morris who will perform before the lights are switched on. The lights will continue to sparkle until the first week of January, taking the town into a bright New Year. More information about the Christmas Lights Committee can be found on their website lymechristmaslights.co.uk.
