Fiddle Fiesta, Sharnbrook Academy

Fiddle Fiestas are a wonderful way to bring together all our local young string players across a vast range of abilities and ages: from beginners to advanced, Year 3 to Year 13. The successful format that has been delivered for over 40 years involves an afternoon rehearsal followed by a performance to family and friends at 6:30pm.

Bedfordshire Youth Opera : Weekend Workshops

These workshops are part of rehearsals and preparation for the Youth Opera performances that take place at the end of August. BYO is one of the very few opportunities in the UK for young people aged 14-26 to experience opera. It attracts students from both the local area and all over the country.

Sing On Summer Term

This is a celebration of young voices in our local schools. Over 4 events across the year, around 700 children perform with a live band on the stage of the Corn Exchange to family and friends. Some older students are invited to perform as guest inspiring musicians so that our young singers get a glimpse of some of the things they might want to get involved with further along their journey.

This is a one-day course for all 7 – 11 year olds, that offers opportunities for young people to experience a range of musical styles, listen to some live performances and try out different instruments and musical equipment – from orchestral instruments to DJ decks! It is a wonderful opportunity for children to have a go at some practical music making and learn about different styles of music in a fun and engaging way. No prior musical experience is necessary.
