Teacher CPD: Educators' Private View: Bow Open 2026 with Yuliya V Krylova

Spend the evening with us at our relaxed, educator-only viewing of the Bow Open 2026 exhibition at the Nunnery Gallery and a drop-in CPD workshop with artist educator Yuliya V Krylova. Bow Arts is excited to invite teachers and artist educators to meet one another and share an evening at the Nunnery Gallery. As well as an insightful tour of the exhibition, educators are welcome to enjoy refreshments, relax and connect in Bow Arts’ gallery environment with other arts and education professionals. Drop into a CPD session with artist educator Yuliya V Krylova, where you can explore ways of creating participatory art experiences and discover practical making activities to bring similar approaches into your own lessons. Refreshments will be provided. Yoga Sessions at the Lakeside Centre

Amanda Eatwell returns this summer to teach her much-loved yoga sessions, located on the stunning Lakeside Centre rooftop. Join us at the Lakeside Centre rooftop on Saturday mornings for a series of uplifting yoga sessions designed to help you start your weekend with intention, movement, and joy. What’s included in a session? You can expect a 60-minute flow that is: Dynamic and energising – to wake up your body and clear your mind. Accessible to all levels – whether you’re new to yoga or have an established practice. Intention-led – helping you reconnect with yourself and the season. Yoga mats are available on-site, but please feel free to bring your own if that is more comfortable. Please bring: Comfortable clothes A water bottle Dates & Times Sessions will run on a Saturday morning for 18 weeks: 2nd May- 26th September Start time: 10:00am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the session. Late entry may not be possible due to the layout of the building. Please note, there are no classes on August 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Book your session now on Eventbrite. Access Information The nearest public transport station is Abbey Wood (National Rail, Elizabeth Line). You can access the Lakeside Centre by bus routes 177, 244, 229, 301, 401, 472. Please note parking is available but limited. Bike shed on site. Image by Jane Lam East London Art Prize 2025 artist Lydia Newman will host two participatory workshops in collaboration with Jae Gibbs as space-holder, Tangle/Untangle (2026), where she uses sand-filled tights to create collective entanglement, exploring how bodies carry, share, and negotiate inherited and socially learned pressures. She will also present a live participatory performance, Sand Suit 4.0 (2026), an embodied storytelling work developed in dialogue with the workshops and her ongoing series In the Wake of Ruin. ‘Tangle/Untangle’ Workshops: 1.30-4.30pm Saturday 25 July & 2-4 pm Sunday 26 July 2026 (ticketed) Developed by Lydia Newman in collaboration with Jae Gibbs as space holder, Tangle/Untangle is set within a crumbling cityscape and explores how inherited systems shape the ways bodies move, relate, adapt and understand themselves in relation to others. In the first workshop, participants use sand-filled tights as a shared material to create a collective entanglement: negotiating, moving and collaborating to form a sculpture in constant motion. The second workshop centres on the slower act of untangling, inviting participants and witnesses to join Lydia in gradually unravelling the structure created the previous day, followed by a shared conversation held around the remains of the work.

East London Art Prize x Backyard Biennial: walking tour exploring art & architecture at Whitechapel with Kuda Mushangi

A walking tour to explore how art has been woven into the history and architecture of Whitechapel and east London. Image by Sandra Lam East London Art Prize shortlisted artist Kuda Mushangi will lead a walking tour of the Whitechapel area to explore how art has been integrated and woven into the history and architecture of Whitechapel and east London. As a practicing architect and an award-winning artist, Kuda brings a wealth of knowledge as well as first-hand experience by living in the vicinity. Key sites will include House of Annetta, Whitechapel Gallery, and Arnold Circus. Starting at Whitechapel Gallery (E1 7QX), we will explore the relationship between art, migration, and architecture in east London through the lens of institutions, domestic spaces, public memory, and housing. Designed by Charles Harrison Townsend in 1901 and restored by Witherford Watson Mann Architects in 2009, the gallery provides an important starting point for discussing the role of cultural institutions within historically working-class and migrant communities, as well as the wider impact of regeneration and creative industries on the East End. We will then make our way through Brick Lane and Princelet Street, where we will discuss how successive communities – including Huguenot, Jewish and Bangladeshi populations – have shaped the architecture and urban fabric of the area over centuries.

Bow Open Workshop: introduction to risograph with Chloe Cooper

In partnership with TACO!, join artist Chloe Cooper to use collage and drawing techniques to create a two-colour risograph print, inspired by her project ‘Thamesmead Times: Revisited!’ (2025). All materials provided. Image credit: Chloe Cooper This workshop will teach you how to use the risograph machine to make a two-colour print. We will make two layers by hand, collaging together different papers and drawing with different pens to create a design that we will then print using the pink and blue drums. Attendees will go home with 10 copies of their two-colour print. If you have digital images or text you would like to include, please print them out before the workshop and bring them with you. This workshop is in partnership with TACO! and is inspired by Chloe’s Thamesmead Times: Revisited! (2025) project that is featured in the Bow Open exhibition. This event will be held at TACO! Print Studio, 30 Poplar Place, London SE28 8BB. More about Chloe Cooper Chloe Cooper is an artist and educator living in Thamesmead. She makes zines and prints in her studio at Lakeside Centre and prints them using the risograph machine at the TACO! Print Studio. More about the Bow Open Bow Open is Bow Arts’ annual exhibition showcasing new and innovative work produced by Bow Arts studio holders, artist educators, and guardians. This year, the exhibition is curated by young curators from Mile End Community Project and features the works of 25 artists exploring the theme of belonging.
