Rise

Rosie explores what it means to be a living thing; capturing the wonder of the human and animal body, predominantly through intricate copper plate etchings. Using this traditional printmaking technique adds a voice from the past, and is suggestive of the artists’ choice of a fragile subject matter; death, birth, extinction and growth.

Convergence- Drawings from the Sprawling Metropolis

‘These are automatically generated extreme doodles or extensions of my thought processes. Mostly linear, nearly always black ink and gesso, they are interwoven strands of subconscious which will always try to escape the frame, in this case the edge of the paper, but always struggling to get there. Each subsequent drawing joins to the next usually by single strands, occasionally multiple, and this determines the beginning of another day…and another drawing, and in that way the process of the drawing never has to finished. I use black because it doesn’t complicate, it simplifies and amplifies the drawing and the process.’

Clear Spot

My work is a meditation on the miniscule and overlooked beauty in the everyday landscape around us. I like to take a magnifying glass to the world to unveil the intricacies which are often passed by in our daily lives. This requires a different pace of life, one of slowing down and observing closely and carefully, a practice which I hope the work will encourage people to take part in. I hope to ignite a reverence for the beauty which can be found in small corners of the world.
