Summer of Play - Wednesday Workshops

Step into the barn and let your imagination run wild at our Wednesday Workshops this summer. Each week you can have a go at a different nature-inspired craft. Will you design a colourful kite ready to soar through the sky? Create a bubble wand for making spectacular bubbles? Or bring a friendly woodland tree spirit to life? Our workshops are a chance to get crafty, try something new, and have fun with family and friends. There'll be plenty of materials provided, and our volunteers will be on hand to help you get started. A suggested donation of £1 per crafter. No booking required – simply turn up and join in on the day. 3 sessions will run for an hour every Wednesday: - 11 - midday - 12.30pm - 1.30pm - 2pm - 3pm (Apart from Wednesday 5 August when the science lab is on instead.) 15 spaces for crafters per hour, each crafter can be accompanied by up to 2 others. If one session is full then spend your time having fun with all the other free Summer of Play activities, or stop in the cafe for an ice cream and come back for the next one! Come along and be part of the Summer of Play adventure!

Whether you've been elsewhere all day and want to unwind, or if you just wish you could stay a little longer, you can now enjoy later closing times at Tinkley Gate, Woodchester Park on these select dates in July. Trust10 Trail Run at Woodchester Park

***Information for those attending*** When arriving at Tinkley Gate, look out for the Trust10 feather flag. Come to the area in front of the bookshop and cafe for pre-run info. This is not a timed event, so if timing is important for your running, please bring your own device. We do not recommend under 14s to run. 14-16 years old to be accompanied by an adult. If you're running with your dog, please let us know at the pre-run safety briefing. Ensure that all waste is picked up and please use a lead and harness that ensures the safety and health of your dog and other runners. *** Join us at Tinkley Gate for the recurring Woodchester Park Trust10 10K trail run. Taking place on the 4th Sunday of every month, this is a free event with no booking necessary - just turn up ready to run. Gates will open from 8:30 though there is no need to arrive much earlier than 9:00. There is a pre-run safety briefing before every event at 9:20, please make sure you arrive in time to attend this. The route will take you through some of the most stunning elements of Woodchester Park. From easier flat sections to challenging hilly terrain, there's something for all runners of every ability - we are welcoming novice and experienced runners alike to enjoy the Woodchester Park surroundings. Once you return to Tinkley Gate, the café will be open for snacks and hot drinks. Lunch will also be available with pizzas starting at 12pm. We look forward to seeing you.

This event is a fun and unique opportunity for children to see models and equipment they may have seen in television documentaries, like wildlife-tracking technology and giant DNA models. Activities include using microscopes, having a go at vaccinating thier own (soft toy) wildlife patients and watching badgers on wildlife cameras. This lab is designed for young people to understand the similiarities and connections between their own health, and that of wildlife, farming and the environment. As part of the trail, get involved with a "Wildlife Whodunnit!" - help the scientists crack the case. From just a few hairs left behind as evidence, scientists use DNA forensics to identify wildlife. From a line-up of suspects, become a wildlife detective, learn how the science works and identify the mystery animal.

Discover more of Woodchester Park and enjoy getting active outdoors with our series of free, guided group-walks. A relaxed and sociable way to explore the park beyond the waymarked trails, following quieter paths and taking in changing seasonal views along the way. Each walk is led by a trained walk leader and supported by walking volunteers, who will guide you at a pace to suit everyone so you don't need to worry about getting left behind! Walks vary in length and terrain depending on the route, but the emphasis is always on enjoyment rather than distance or speed. Please see the route description for more information below. These guided walks are free to attend and open to all. Whether you join for a single walk or attend regularly, this is a chance to explore Woodchester Park together. Kennel Pond Loop | 3.3 miles (5.4 km) | Ascent 175 metres The Kennel Pond Loop is a circular walk of approximately 3.3 miles (5.4 km), starting and ending at Tinkley Gate. A total ascent of around 175 metres. It crosses over two of the park's dams between three lakes at the bottom of the valley: Old Pond, Middle Pond, and Kennel Pond giving a chance to appreciate tiered views across the water and at the wildlife that congregates around them. The terrain is mixed throughout: compacted stone surfaces, woodland tracks and grassy paths. A few steeper sections with a short series of steps down to the boardwalk, but there will be plenty of places to pause to take it as slow as needed.
