The first set looks ahead, exploring newer, song-led material with Ferrari singing and moving between electric guitar and keyboards, joined by Will Davis on electric bass and Eric Young on drums; the second returns to the expansive sound of the acoustic trio with Charlie Pyne on double bass, alongside special guests including Omar Puente, Enrico Olivanti and the Jam String Collective. From reimagined favourites from Above The Clouds to new original music, this promises to be a warm, soulful and uplifting evening of improvisation, collaboration and musical storytelling. Ilario Ferrari is an Italian-born, UK-based singer-songwriter, pianist, multi-instrumentalist and composer whose music brings together lyrical piano playing, song, improvisation and a deep commitment to emotional honesty and human connection. Rooted in jazz but open to a wide spectrum of influences, his work moves fluidly between intimate songwriting, cinematic textures, groove-led improvisation and rich collaborative sound worlds. Born in the coastal town of Terracina in southern Italy, Ferrari began his musical journey as a teenager through guitar, before teaching himself piano and composition and developing a natural voice as both songwriter and musical storyteller.

Giulia Marro Quartet

Led by rising UK jazz clarinettist and vocalist Giulia Marro, the Giulia Marro Quartet brings together some of London’s most exciting young musicians for an evening of swing. Blending original compositions with deep cuts from the Great American Songbook, the quartet draws inspiration from the chamber-like interplay of Jimmy Giuffre and the expressive writing of Carla Bley. With rich storytelling, melodic improvisation and a distinctive sound, the band creates music that feels both rooted in tradition and strikingly individual. Rising star of the UK jazz scene, clarinet player and vocalist Giulia Marro released her debut album A Portrait of Giulia in March 2025, marking her arrival as a distinctive new voice on the jazz scene. Rooted in tradition yet unmistakably personal, the album showcases Giulia’s deep connection to jazz alongside her flair for storytelling, lyricism and expressive improvisation. Giulia studied at both the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, experiences that helped shape her refined technique and broad musical outlook. Her playing is steeped in the jazz tradition, drawing heavily from the swing and bebop eras, while remaining fresh and current through her emotive phrasing, rhythmic sensitivity and melodic playing. This new quartet of London’s most exciting young musicians features Nick Manz on piano (BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year Finalist 2022) , Ben Love on double bass and Jack Thomas on drums.

Kananayé

Kananayé is an artistic collaboration between Burkina Faso and France that weaves narrative songs in French, Jula, More, and English, merging West African musical heritage, blues, improvisation, poetry and organic trance-driven grooves. In the streets of Burkina Faso, you often hear "ka nana ye", meaning "it's not easy", but with the idea that "it will be alright". The project Kananayé embodies this resilience with its multiculturalism, conscious lyrics, and modernity while staying true to its heritage. This multilingual opus navigates between enchanting ballads and vibrant rhythms, expressing the joy of creating together despite challenges. It brings together a stellar lineup of musicians: vocalist-flutist Clotilde Rullaud Nacoulma, twice named among France’s top three voices by JazzNews and JazzMagazine (2022 & 2023); guitarist Abdoulaye “Debademba” Traore (Fatoumata Diawara, Le Bal de l’Afrique Enchantée); Seydou “Kanazoé” Diabate—of Kanazoé Orkestra and Mamadou Diabaté fame—on balafon and vocals; Boubacar Djiga on the kunde (traditional bass) and Achille Nacoulma behind drums and percussion. Jon Regen

Singer, songwriter and pianist Jon Regen has been a fan favorite on both sides of the Atlantic for over a decade, selling-out venues and nabbing top-tier press and radio play. Regen returns to celebrate the release of his new album LIVE IN LONDON, recorded live on our stage during the 2025 London Jazz Festival. The album features new songs as well as celebrated ones from records like Satisfied Mind, which spent weeks on Jazz FM’s A List Playlist and featured luminaries like Ron Carter, Rob Thomas and Pino Palladino. With PJ Phillips on bass, John Miller on drums, Paul Booth on saxophone, plus special guests! “The new album is a thrill for me for many reasons,” Regen says. “The first being my career as a singer/songwriter started on the PizzaExpress stage. It’s the place where I realized I had my own story to tell as a solo artist. It’s also the first time that what I do live has been accurately captured on record. It sounds like my shows sound. And finally, to have my longtime band of PJ Phillips and John Miller - plus sax ace Paul Booth along for the ride – that’s the icing on the cake!” LIVE IN LONDON follows a busy time for Regen, with a recent appearance on BBC Radio 3’s “EARLIER… with Jools Holland” hosted by the legendary pianist and TV presenter, and Regen’s affecting single “Every Time You Walk Away” spending seven weeks on Jazz FM’s A List Playlist after being named Featured Track of the Week.
