O’Reilly, Charlotte Parr Burman, Sophie Popper, Anaïs Serres, Tara Versey, Denisa Zajacova ‘to belong’ What does it mean to belong? Is it a place, a person, a feeling? Is it an individual experience, or something we share? What happens when that sense of belonging is lost, and how do we find it again? This year’s Bow Open brings together work from 25 artists centred around the theme of belonging, selected by young curators Mara Ahmed, Justine Enyan, Eleanor Getting and Lydia Lott with Mile End Community Project. Showcasing artists from across Bow Arts’ community, the exhibition presents many artforms, including painting, print, sculpture and video, all a testament to how belonging is a practice, rooted in place, identity, memory and community.

Artist Educator CPD: Disability and access in the classroom with Phoebe Kaniewska

, to In this workshop participants will hear from artist educator Phoebe Kaniewska on access needs and inclusivity in the classroom, accompanied by an engaging badge-making workshop. In this taster workshop, Bow Arts will be opening our Artist Educator CPD programme to invite artist educators, artists working in education and people who are curious about art education to join our thought-provoking and inspiring sessions. We’re inviting potential collaborators, colleagues, and members of the existing artist educator community to come together to meet one another, practice and learn new skills. About the workshop In this session, we will take a look at how badges can help us explore identity- especially for those with disabilities and access needs. Using text and image as tools, we will think about access and inclusivity and make our own badges that promote this as part of a hands-on workshop. Alongside the activity, Phoebe will give a presentation on disability, access needs and inclusivity in classroom settings and beyond. What is the Artist Educators’ CPD programme? Organised by Bow Learning, the artist educators CPD program is a series of sessions offered to Bow Arts Educators as a form of skill sharing and network-building. Bow Arts artist educators are a freelance pool of educators who work on schools’ projects across London, mostly in east and south-east London. This programme of professional development has been running successfully for the past 10 years.
