Yoga Sessions at the Lakeside Centre

, to Amanda Eatwell returns this summer to teach her much-loved yoga sessions, located on the stunning Lakeside Centre rooftop. Join us at the Lakeside Centre rooftop on Saturday mornings for a series of uplifting yoga sessions designed to help you start your weekend with intention, movement, and joy. What’s included in a session? You can expect a 60-minute flow that is: Dynamic and energising – to wake up your body and clear your mind. Accessible to all levels – whether you’re new to yoga or have an established practice. Intention-led – helping you reconnect with yourself and the season. Yoga mats are available on-site, but please feel free to bring your own if that is more comfortable. Please bring: Comfortable clothes A water bottle Dates & Times Sessions will run on a Saturday morning: 2nd May- 3rd October Start time: 10:00am. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of the session. Late entry may not be possible due to the layout of the building. Please note, there are no classes on August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and September 12th. Book your session now on Eventbrite. Pre-booking required Access Information The nearest public transport station is Abbey Wood (National Rail, Elizabeth Line). You can access the Lakeside Centre by bus routes 177, 244, 229, 301, 401, 472. Please note parking is available but limited. Bike shed on site. East London Art Prize x Backyard Biennial: participatory workshops ‘Tangle/Untangle’ and live performance ‘Sand Suit...

, to Participatory workshops and a live performance exploring how bodies carry, share, and negotiate inherited and socially learned pressures. Image by Jane Lam East London Art Prize 2025 artist Lydia Newman will host two participatory workshops in collaboration with Jae Gibbs as space-holder, Tangle/Untangle (2026), where she uses sand-filled tights to create collective entanglement, exploring how bodies carry, share, and negotiate inherited and socially learned pressures. She will also present a live participatory performance, Sand Suit 4.0 (2026), an embodied storytelling work developed in dialogue with the workshops and her ongoing series In the Wake of Ruin. ‘Tangle/Untangle’ Workshops: 1.30-4.30pm Saturday 25 July & 2-4 pm Sunday 26 July 2026 (ticketed) Developed by Lydia Newman in collaboration with Jae Gibbs as space holder, Tangle/Untangle is set within a crumbling cityscape and explores how inherited systems shape the ways bodies move, relate, adapt and understand themselves in relation to others. In the first workshop, participants use sand-filled tights as a shared material to create a collective entanglement: negotiating, moving and collaborating to form a sculpture in constant motion. The second workshop centres on the slower act of untangling, inviting participants and witnesses to join Lydia in gradually unravelling the structure created the previous day, followed by a shared conversation held around the remains of the work.

In this workshop, children will learn new skills in hand sewing scrap store materials. Nicola will make pattern templates and some pre-made for smaller children. This event is an inclusive, friendly environment which is accessible to all abilities and age groups. Bow Families is a series of free, drop-in family art workshops that take place on the last Sunday of every month in the Bow Arts Courtyard. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity for local families to get creative and try something new! Each session is led by a Bow Arts’ Artist and all materials are provided. Bow Open Workshop: creating your own vessels using porcelain paper clay with Victoria Burgher

, to Learn how to imprint, mould, and construct with porcelain paper clay to create your very own handmade vessels and tealight holders, speculating on ideas around home, place and fragility. All materials provided. Image credit: Victoria Burgher Artist and educator Victoria Burgher, whose work Gaza (2025) is also in the Bow Open 2026 exhibition, will guide you through a range of simple construction techniques and methods to use when working with porcelain paper clay, speculating on ideas around home, place and fragility. All participants will be able to experiment with using plaster press moulds, fabrics, and natural found materials – such as leaves and branches – to imprint surface textures onto individual vessels and containers. You are welcome to bring along your own objects and patterns to use when imprinting your textures too! After the workshop, Victoria will fire the vessels and tealight holders, with all creations available to collect from the Nunnery Gallery from the following week. All materials are provided – no experience needed! Bow Open Walk & Workshop: mirrors and meanings portrait drawing with Sheyamali Sudesh

, to Join artist Sheyamali Sudesh on a walk around Bow and Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park to create a series of portrait drawings using mirrors to encompass our urban and natural environment. Together, you will create mono-prints using our drawings and written phrases on the themes of belonging and displacement. No drawing skills required! Photo by Sheyamali Sudesh We will begin the session at Nunnery Gallery (181 Bow Road, Bow, London E3 2SJ), making simple hand-held mirror looking device and creating a series of drawings based on what we will see in our mirror devices on our walk around the Bow area. For the walking part of the workshop, we will be walking through Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park and Sheyamali will speak briefly about the history of the park, the migration of people (specifically Somali and Bengali communities) and some plants you may spot. Please bring comfortable walking shoes and a bottle of water. Back to the gallery, we will create a mono-print encompassing our drawings and written phrases on the themes of belonging and displacement. No drawing experince required! Showcasing artists from across Bow Arts’ community, the exhibition presents many artforms, including painting, print, sculpture and video, all a testament to how belonging is a practice, rooted in place, identity, memory and community. Explore the questions ‘What does it mean to belong? What does belonging feel like? Workshop: creating clay pond creatures with Miyuki Kasahara

, to Join artist educator Miyuki Kasahara for a summer garden workshop at the Lakeside Centre to create your own pond creatures made out of clay! Once again, we will be opening up the garden at the Lakeside Centre for local families to observe the wild pond growing amongst the planters and to create pond animals that represent those in the local area. During the workshop natural materials will be foraged, including pinecones, propellers and twigs to combine with air-dry clay to create our pond creatures. You are likely to find animals from amphibians (common frogs, marsh frogs, smooth newts) to invertebrates (dragonflies, damselflies, pond skaters, diving beetles, water boatman) and their larvae, alongside crustaceans (freshwater shrimps) and gastropod mollusks (pond snails and slugs). Participants will be able to take their clay creatures home.
