Feathersteps Dance Class Sophie Brooke 6-9pm

Welcome to Feathersteps School Of Dance! Sophie is pleased to announce that the monthly Saturday Evening Dance is back! Here is a little bit from Sophie about Feathersteps: We are a friendly dance school run by Sophie E. Brooke, an IDTA Qualified Professional with 26 years dance experience, which includes National Competitions, IDTA Medal Exams and Dance Event Organisation. Learning to dance is incredibly rewarding in many different ways. It is an excellent activity which helps all ages to stay fit physically, mentally and socially, and is a wonderful skill that gets people talking! We specialise in Ballroom, Latin and Salsa in group classes, but do offer lots of other dance style tuition, plus the all important Wedding “First Dance”. Our dance school also boasts excellent opportunities for live music events and themed dance evenings! From absolute beginners to experienced and seasoned dancers, we have something to suit everyone, offering various levels of classes at different venues around the Selby and Goole districts. Wednesday is Tennis Club Night

Social Tennis is held for the first three Wednesday’s in the month. The fourth week in May through to September, is usually a Handicap Doubles Tournament. Your first visit would be free, the second visit we ask £3 and then we would love you to join the club. We have loads of teams of all standards playing in the York Leagues. Kaleidoscope Orchestra

Kaleidoscope is an ALL age, ALL abilities and ALL instrument inclusive Orchestra. From Musical Director and Conductor, Mrs Helen Higson – It began as a 10 week trial in 2009 with 18 people and now has a membership of 63, aged 8-85. We have orchestral instruments plus guitars, saxophones and recorders. Our members are both children and adult beginners, adults who learned as children and have dusted off their instruments, through to post-grade 8 members, one of whom plays with the European Doctors Orchestra and another who is studying harp at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland – Kaleidoscope Orchestra is a fun place to be! We play a variety of music, from ‘Dance Macabre’ to ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Finlandia’ and a ‘Queen’ medley currently in the repertoire. Music is written to accommodate all abilities. We rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm – 8.45pm, with a break-in the middle for a quick cuppa and a biscuit – somehow we always play better after a pit stop! Membership Fee equates to just £2 per week! First week is free. Kaleidoscope members are a very friendly bunch who enjoy helping each other with their music and instruments. Why not come along and join us? We are now rehearsing at Bubwith Leisure and Sports Centre – with their fabulous new acoustic panels!
