But some are set ondestroying her work – and anyone who stands in the way.Based on the extraordinary real-life story of Eleanor Glanville (1654–1709) – one of the UK’s first female entomologists – Butterfly reimagines her life in the present day. Declared ‘deprived of her senses’ for daring to pursue butterflies, Eleanor’s legacy was successfullychallenged in court. We meet her on the brink of a discovery – the butterfly we now know as the Glanville fritillary, one of only two British butterflies to be named after the scientists who found them – amid a brewing crisis.Can Eleanor protect her butterfly – and her reputation?Today, the Glanville fritillary is vulnerable, surviving in only a handful of colonies – mainly in Hampshire. Determined to find the singer, Whale embarks on an unforgettable adventure - diving through glowing coral caves, dodging wibbly jellyfish and facing wild-eyed sea monsters! But will he ever find a friend who hears his song?Join Hoglets Theatre for an exciting deep-sea adventure packed with beautiful puppets, hilarious sea creatures, original songs and lots of audience interaction! The Tale of the Loneliest Whale is a magical, interactive show that celebrates friendship, difference and the beauty of being yourself.At its heart, this is a story about neurodiversity, about how being different can be lonely, but also beautiful. The play was developed through workshops and conversations with children, including those with experience of autism, ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence. Their insights shaped everything from the characters, music and story structure to the sensory elements and pacing of the show.Suitable for ages 4+45 minutes, no intervalAt the end of the show, the audience is invited onto the stage to meet the puppets and have their photo taken.
