John Henry Newman: An introduction to his life and the development of his thoughts is an evening of exploration with Monsignor Rod Strange (pictured) leading scholar of the life and thought of St John Henry Newman It takes place at 7:30pm – 9.00pm on Thursday 16 April 2026 at Mayfield Salisbury Church, 18 West Mayfield, Edinburgh, EH9 1TQ All welcome: entrance by donation – £5 proposed About Mgr Roderick Strange Mgr Rod Strange is a prominent Catholic priest, theologian, and author, recognised as a leading expert on John Henry Newman. He is a Professor of Theology at St Mary’s University, Twickenham, former Rector of the Pontifical Beda College in Rome, and a regular columnist for The Times. Among his works are Newman and the Gospel of Christ (1981) and John Henry Newman: A Mind Alive. Event organised by the Edinburgh Circle of the Newman Association.

The Archdiocese is running a series of monthly EXPLORE meetings for young women interested in finding out more about the religious life and exploring God’s will. Includes talks, discussion, prayer and socialising. Trust in God Still - a celebration of the Catholic Church in Scotland

Join others from across Scotland at Glasgow Caledonian University on Saturday 6 June for Trust in God Still – a celebration of the Catholic Church in Scotland. Whether involved in parish life, diocesan leadership, education, ministry or simply seeking to grow deeper in mission, this day is for you. It is an opportunity to experience Conversation in the Spirit firsthand and discover a practical and prayerful way of discerning God’s will together for the future of the Church. The day will celebrate the fruits of the Scottish Church and feature inspiring witnesses to the Synod: Bishop Alan McGuckian SJ of Down and Connor, Fr David McCallum SJ and Sandra Chaoul There will be time to connect with others from parishes, schools, dioceses and faith organisations across the country. The Margaret Pilgrimage, Dunfermline

Join us in Dunfermline for the annual St Margaret Pilgrimage. We celebrate the life and legacy, virtue and holiness of St Margaret, who lived in Scotland’s ancient capital. The highlight of the day is the procession at 2:00pm to St Margaret’s Church, led by Archbishop Cushley with the relic of St Margaret. Holy Mass is in the Church at 3:00pm (schedule below). Schedule 12:00pm: Angelus at St Margaret’s Cave, Chalmers Street Car Park, KY12 8DQ. 1:00pm: Prayer Service at St Margaret’s tomb at Dunfermline Abbey, St Margaret Street, KY12 7PE. 2:00pm: Procession from Louise Carnegie Memorial Gateway, Bridge Street (opp Seven Kings Pub), to St Margaret’s Memorial Church (Meet at 1:45pm). 3:00pm: Mass at St Margaret’s Memorial Church,East Port, celebrated by Archbishop Cushley and priests of the Archdiocese..

Archdiocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage

The annual Archdiocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from Friday 10 – Friday 17 July 2026. The pilgrimage is led by Archbishop Leo Cushley and is being organised with Tangney Tours. Pilgrims come from all parts of the Archdiocese and include assisted pilgrims -those who are ill, elderly or frail, who are supported by our own team of willing volunteers, including doctors, nurses and other allied health professionals. Full details /lourdes-2026. About the Pilgrimage Tangney Tours say: “During our pilgrimage, there will be a lot to see and experience. Our pilgrimage and tour of Lourdes includes visits to the Basilica of the Rosary and the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. We take part in the Masses, the Stations of the Cross and the blessing of the sick, visit the Grotto of Massabeille where the apparitions of Our Lady took place. You will have the chance to drink from the spring at the base of the Grotto. The original spring that Bernadette located is still visible, protected by a glass cover and illuminated. Visit the baths where hundreds of miraculous healings have taken place. We participate in the evening torchlight processions which is a wonderful experience. Our Lady requested that these processions take place when She appeared to Bernadette.
