Pilgrim Way Pastor – Summer Guided Walks

This summer, the Revd Simon Hessett, the Fife Pilgrim Pastor, will be running a short series of pilgrimages taking in places associated with saints with a connection to Fife. The first of these will be on Thursday, 30th July, when the walk will be look at St Margaret (Queen Margaret of Scotland). This walk will leave South Queensferry 10am for 10.30am departure (the start point is tbc) and it will be possible to join it closer to Dunfermline for those who might struggle with the whole 20km. If you’d like to join, please register here: https://www.trybooking.com/uk/GSIJ, where you can also find a list of joining points and times. The walks are free of charge, but please register. Very grateful thanks is extended to the wonderful staff at OnFife, who have agreed to open St Margaret’s Cave late for the group and to Fr Syriac at St Margaret’s Parish, Dunfermline & Oakley for opening late so that the group can see St Margaret’s relic.

A Pilgrimage to Aberdour on

Fife : Forthview Parish Church St Fillan’s, Aberdour Faith in the Festival A Pilgrimage to Aberdour join at Fife, Forthview Parish Church, Dalgety for a welcome coffee and scone before setting off on a Pilgrimage to Aberdour, via St Bridget’s Kirk. There will be a stop to share in Communion before walking along the Avenue. Once in Aberdour you will be welcomed by tea, soup and cake with a conversation between Pilgrim Pastor, the Revd Simon Hessett and the Revd Andrea Fraser. Donations to the work of the Pilgrim Pastor. Godly Play Door Person Training

Godly Play Door Person Training – 3rd October 2026 – Uddingston Old Parish Church, Old Glasgow Road, Uddingston G71 7HF – 9am – 5pm We know that some people are happy just being the Door Person … but being the Door Person is a vital role in Godly Play. What happens at the door doesn’t stay at the door, it influences the whole session. This training is designed to help Door People understand what’s involved in a Godly Play session and the important part they play in making it the best it can be. This training explores the different elements of a Godly Play session, the roles of both the door person and the Storyteller and we share our tips and techniques for being the Door Person. The course fee is £80. The fee includes training, handbook and morning & afternoon refreshments. We are offering early bird (10% – £72) discount for bookings made before 26th August, and second mouse* (5% – £75) discount for bookings made between then and 9th September. Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training

Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training – 13th – 15th October – Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Queen’s Terrace, St Andrews KY16 9QF Our Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training takes an immersive, hands-on approach, helping participants to understand the process and the theory of Godly Play. We do this through storytelling, reflection, and practice. Storyteller and Door Person Accredited Training is a mixture of trainer led and participant storytelling sessions – so you have the opportunity to tell a story as part of the course and, see and wonder about 14 other stories. This is a non-residential course. Each day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 6:30pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 5pm on Thursday. The course fee is £315. The fee includes training, handbook, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments. We are offering early bird (10%) discount for bookings made before 26th August 2026, and second mouse* (5%) discount for bookings made between then and 14th September. Godly Play Trainers and core training – Storyteller and Door Person – are accredited by the Godly Play Foundation, and meet the standards set out by the Godly Play International Council. The trainers for this course are Michelle Brown and Jessica Lang. The venue is the Godly Play room in Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Queen’s Terrace, St Andrews KY16 9QF.
