Men's Club Summer BBQ

The summer BBQ will be on July 22 in Peter O’ Neill Hall starting with social hour at 5:00 p.m. Please note the change in date due to the Totus Tuus program use of the hall the prior week when we originally planned to hold the dinner. Instead of ribs this year, we will be enjoying smoked beef brisket. This event is an appreciation event, all members of the Men’s Club who have volunteered for a project or event during the year are encouraged to attend. We will also announce the Men’s Club scholarship winners, and honor the Men’s Club Man of the Year. As is tradition, we also ask all the club members to bring a bottle of wine valued at $15.00 or more to be used as prizes for the Wine Plinko Game at the Fall Festival.

GA Perks June 10, 17, 24 and July 1, 8, 15, 29 and August 5, 12 RSVP: While not necessary, it’s nice to let Lukas know you’re coming so there are enough chairs :) - Session 1: God (June 10) - Does God exist? How can I know? Talking about God can often feel abstract and beyond our understanding. How are we even able to speak about God? This session explores faith and reason, ways of knowing and speaking about God, reasons we have to believe that God exists. Read ahead: CCC 26-49, 198-231 Session 2: Creation & The Problem of Evil (June 17) - What does it mean to say God “created everything”? Does that mean God created ‘evil’ too? Although not explicitly addressed in the Creed, the problem of evil is one of the greatest challenges to belief in a loving God. If God is all-knowing, all-powerful, all-good, and created everything, why is there evil and suffering? This session examines the Church’s response to the question and how it fits with the Christian understanding of God, creation, freedom, and redemption. Read ahead: CCC 268-314, 385-421 Session 3: Is Jesus God? (June 24) - Who is Jesus? Was he just a great teacher, a prophet, or a revolutionary? Did Jesus truly claim to be God? Why do we believe that Jesus is both fully human and fully divine? This session explores the identity of Jesus Christ, the meaning of the Incarnation, and how the Church came to articulate its belief in Jesus as true God and true man through Scripture and Tradition.

Parish Town Hall

Fr. Joe invites you to a Parish Town Hall Forum Thursday, July 30, 6:00 p.m. Peter O'Neill Hall Please join us for an evening of prayer, information, and conversation as we discuss the opportunity for Chesterton Academy to lease and use the school wing at Guardian Angels. The evening will begin with prayer and a brief reflection on the Archdiocese's Year of the Family, followed by a presentation outlining: Where we are in the discernment and planning process. What the presence of Chesterton Academy at Guardian Angels may look like. How parish use of the school building could be affected. The next steps in the process. Following the presentation, attendees will be invited to submit written questions. Fr. Joe will address as many questions as time allows, helping ensure that the discussion is organized and that the most common questions and concerns are addressed. We hope you will join us for this informative evening as we continue to discern how this opportunity may serve both our parish and the broader Catholic community
