Theatre Of Hate

In 1980, Kirk Brandon formed Theatre Of Hate from the ashes of heralded punk band The Pack. Joining Kirk on vocals were notable punk musicians Stan Stammers and Luke Rendall, along with old school friend, Steve Guthrie and Canadian born John “Boy” Lennard, who revolutionised the band’s sound with his haunting sax lines. Theatre Of Hate’s debut double-A-side single, “Legion”/”Original Sin”, topped the independent chart in 1980, and “Westworld”, their debut album, produced by Mick Jones from The Clash and released in 1982, held the number one position for 21 weeks. The single taken from the album, “Do You Believe In The West- world?” has become an anthem and is still widely played in clubs and on international radio, as well as featuring on numerous compilation albums. Theatre Of Hate imploded in 1982, with Kirk taking Stan forward to form Spear Of Destiny, but the band has resurfaced over the years to play some very special shows. Having been asked by John Curd to join The Damned for a massive show at London’s infamous Round- house in December 2014 the band once again joined the fray. A short set of dates around the London Roundhouse anchor show attracted rave reviews. 2015 saw the band play two short jaunts across the UK in April and December both sets of dates wowed large crowds.Whilst touring the band recorded and released, Kinshi funded by a fans pledge campaign - the first new studio album in 30+ years.

Packaging & Guerilla Biscuits // A Sonic Bloom Production

The first of the May Sonic Bloom gigs arrives in the form. Packaging is the duo of Daniel Lyon (Spirit Award) and Daniel “Connor” Birch (Flaural). Their debut album Packaging fuses psychedelic textures, krautrock chug, electronic grandeur, tuneful accessibility, and just a little bit of bristling self-awareness. The name Packaging may connote a cynical mindset about the music industry, but the music that duo Daniel Lyon (Spirit Award) and Daniel “Connor” Birch (Flaural) make is far from cynical. Instead, it’s a passionate merging of elements from their distinct voices: krautrock chug, psychedelic swirl, electronic grandeur, and tuneful accessibility, with a pinch of bristling self-awareness sprinkled on top. Their debut album, Packaging, is a suite of emotionally resonant songs about disconnection, ennui, and restless movement. Featuring several musical contributors, including Luke Temple (Here We Go Magic), Ash Reiter (Sugar Candy Mountain), James Barone (Beach House), and Andy Rauworth (Gauntlet Hair). The album, like actual packaging, is a tactile experience. From the pulse-pounding rush of “Running Through The Airport” and “In My Pocket” to the woozy melancholia of “Didn’t Wanna Stay” and the quietly devastating “On Holiday,” Lyon and Birch combine their talents in ways that push each other to new emotive heights. Support on the night comes from Lancaster’s very own King Of The Electronic Open Mic….

The Longest Johns

AEG Presents The Longest Johns The Longest Johns Biography: Chart topping folk group The Longest Johns are known the world over for their rollicking harmonies and raucous energy that are blowing new wind into the sails of traditional sea shanties and work songs. Formed in 2012 across a kitchen table in their native Bristol, they bonded over a passion for traditional maritime folk music, interwoven with a wry humour, a taste for all things digital. and a flair for their own songwriting – ancient meets modern down by the docks. Constant gigging over land and sea, coupled with a rare command of social media and a string of quality releases saw them build a devoted fanbase at home and abroad. Their breakout moment came in 2021, when their rendition of ‘Wellerman’ went viral on TikTok, sparking the ‘Shanty Tok’ craze that became a global resurgence in sea shanty music and saw the band sign to Decca Records. This year, they have released their tenth album to round up the Pieces of Eight project – an EP a month for eight months culminating in the 24-track compilation. In the next 12 months they’ll continue to take folk music back to its roots by many routes, playing more than 100 shows across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. Their love of heritage and tradition runs deep – in 2024 they released the fan-funded album Voyage with its companion book of original short stories, artwork and lyrics.

PONS (NYC // Punk/No wave) plus Subordinate Clause

Sonic Bloom Presents.... All the way from NYC......... PONS Rock n’ Roll will never be a lazy game. PONS is here to set the record straight. Following in the footsteps of the masters of the road that came before them, PONS’ takes a relentless, “NO MERCY” approach to DIY touring. Burning more calories on stage in one night than most bands do in one year, PONS is an undeniable first of sound heading for the throat of culture. Transitioning from a conventional band to the solo project of visionary frontman and founding member Jack Parker in 2024, PONS has been confronting audiences with blood-pumping electronic dance punk that is as immediately captivating as it is angular, aggressive, and in-your-face. No life is spared at a PONS show. Supporting notable acts such as Gogol Bordello, Lambrini Girls, Laura Jane Grace, Geese, Vundabar, and A Place To Bury Strangers, PONS leave it all to bear on stage; a deluge of smashed gear, contorting bodies, bright lights, throttling beats, and glam rock bravado. Taking cues from artists like Iggy Pop, Suicide, LCD Soundsystem, and Crystal Castles, PONS spew the digital bile of our dystopic, internet-fuled hellscape right at the listener; simultaneously embracing and deriding rock n’ roll’s most brash and over-the-top tropes. The “lost” PONS album “Heavens to Peter” was released on tape in September 2025 via Dedstrange Records (a new label run by Oliver Ackermann of A Place To Bury Strangers & Death By Audio). Recorded with a previous...
