About the event A solo exhibition by Celia Brookes The artworks in, “Stories in Watercolour”, are of everyday characters in real life. Celia Creates a composition, using depth, shapes, textures and shadows. These are not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but they also make people pause and wonder, what is the story behind this watercolour painting. Celia won the People’s Choice Award at the Sock Open Exhibition in 2024, the prize being this solo show. Please note on Saturday 11th July 10am – 1pm, half of the gallery will be closed due to a workshop.

About the event The Open Exhibition is kindly sponsored by LAOS, for more information about their upcoming production of Come From Away, Click HERE Sock Gallery’s Open Exhibition was designed to provide an opportunity for artists, whether local or national, professional or amateur, to exhibit their work. The exhibition also offers the people of Charnwood and the surrounding areas a chance to see work by many different artists, all at the same time. The Open Exhibition 2026 is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work, with cash prizes for the winner of both our adult and young person categories, and a chance to win an exhibition at Sock Gallery through our People’s Choice Award. Watercolour Flower Collage with Chloe Jean

About the event 10am – 4pm Step into a world of colour, texture, and creativity in this mixed media collage workshop! Using a combination of watercolour, gouache, ink, and other artistic mediums, you’ll create a vibrant 3D floral garden scene—similar to the one shown above. Participants will begin by experimenting with different paints and materials to design a variety of botanical elements, exploring expressive mark-making, colour blending, and layered textures. Once your artwork elements are complete, you’ll cut, arrange, and layer them to build a lush, dimensional collage full of depth and movement. The final piece will be assembled in a shadow box-style frame, allowing your artwork to come to life with sculptural vibrancy and visual richness. This workshop is perfect for both beginners and experienced artists who want to explore mixed media techniques and experiment with texture, layering, and colour. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a stunning, framed artwork that’s uniquely your own.

Come From Away

About the event Come From Away chronicles the real-life experiences of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, and the almost 7000 airline passengers who were forced to land there when US air space was closed on September 11, 2001. The stories of both the Islanders and the Plane People are told, revealing the fear and uncertainty that came with the terrorist attacks – as well as the profound generosity and compassion of strangers. While some characters and stories are an amalgamation of several people and experiences, others are grounded in true people. Along with acting out the events of the four days, characters step out from the story to narrate the events. Come From Away – Presented by LAOS

Where the Light Lives- Impressions of Charnwood & Beyond

About the event A solo exhibition by Kendrick Snodin Kendrick Snodin’s new Exhibition aims to capture the fleeting beauty of light and atmosphere as it flows across Landscapes of all types. These works play with light and atmosphere to create scenes infused with poetry and movement. Fascinated by Leicestershire landscapes, costal scenes, rugged terrains and textures shaped by time, he experiments by mixing Watercolour, Gouache, Acrylic and Pastel to enrich his visual language. Balancing control and spontaneity, he composes works where emotion guides the eye, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the ephemeral yet powerful essence of Nature.
